Tourette's Syndrome

  1. 2. <ul><li>Tourette's Syndrome is a neurological disorder where a person has tics, both verbal and motor. </li></ul><ul><li>It may be caused because of problems in how the nerves communicate in the brain. </li></ul><ul><li>It is not contagious because it is inherited or happens while developing in the womb. </li></ul><ul><li>More guys than girls have the condition. </li></ul>
  2. 3. <ul><li>The main symptom is tics. </li></ul><ul><li>Examples of verbal tics: throat clearing, clicking sounds, sniffling, yelping, shouting </li></ul><ul><li>Examples of motor tics: eye blinking, head jerking, foot stamping </li></ul><ul><li>When under stress, tics can become more severe, frequent, or longer. </li></ul><ul><li>Other symptoms: ADHD, OCD, learning disabilities, trouble sleeping </li></ul>
