Novel symmetrical squaraine dyes with varying π-conjugation have been synthesized and characterized.
Cyanoacrylate functionality leads not only to the red-shift in absorption spectrum but pronounced spectral broadening as well
as photon harvesting as compared to –COOH anchoring group.
Enhancement of π-conjugation of main aromatic framework although leads to red-shift in the light absorption but prone to
increased dye aggregation leading to hampered photovoltaic performance.
