B. PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Northern California is the biggest cluster of Innovation Centers in the world today. “Alpha
Innovator” is a series of 12 interviews with the creators of successful Innovation Centers in
Northern California. The project is comprised of a TV show and a companion website which
serves as a repository of interactive information. Statewide, National, and International Public TV
distribution is “possible” and a YouTube channel is planned as well.
The TV SHOW
The initial show will be the recordings of an “Advisory Board Panel” where the Advisory Board
will suggest what Innovation Centers, between many in Northern California, these Centers are
chosen by the Board according to their value and will be covered in our first year of the show.
The 12 subsequent shows all in the same structure format, a documentary focusing on the creator
of a successful Innovation Center that will cover the moment of the idea’s conception to the
moment of the grand opening of the Innovation Center.
Advisory Board Panel Show
The choice of these 12 Alpha Innovator (the first year of shows), will be selected by the Board, and
will be shot as a stand alone show, with the 15 innovation specialists, this show will be called
“The Advisory Board Panel”. The Advisory Board will suggest the strategic orientations of the TV
Shows, and will suggest topics and guests.
The Advisory Board is comprised of 15 members in which five are nationals of countries other than
the United States and five are women.
The Bylaws of the Advisory Board require each member to inform the Chairman and the Advisory
Board about any potential conflict of interests.

Structure of the Alpha Innovator shows
Each of the 12 shows will cover the journey of the Alpha Innovators. They will have basically the
same structure, a running time of 56:45 with the following format.
The show will start with an opening vinheta.
After the opening vinheta we will have an introduction of this show’s guest from a segment of the
Advisory Board Panel where this guest was indicated as relevant in the Northern California
Innovation environment.
After, we will meet the guest in the environment where he initially had the idea to create an
Innovation Center. We will start the conversation by asking why they felt compelled to create an
Innovation Center. After we will ask how they came up with the main steps of the process and
will then we will go step by step on their journey illustrated by images, graphics, business model
charts, and other important and relevant information and documents connected with each step of
the creation process. A step by step process that encompassess budget estimates, testimonies of
others involved in the creation of the center, and testimonies of experts in the related field.
The show will finish with an image of the “Grand Opening” of the innovation center
Each episode will be in the same structure, only the guests will be different.
Interviews start on September 16, 2013 at 8 pm and sequentially every month on the 3rd Monday
for 12 months. External units will be used as well.
The companion interactive website
The website www.alphainnovator.org will be the interactive repository of content explored in the
TV show. Download of business plans, graphics, charts, forms, documents and access to external
links will be part of the website. The basic structure of the web site will be:

We are planing have a YouTube channel with all TV Shows listed by date and "Insights" listed by
titles, with interactive open video responses and comments from the viewers.
C. PROGRAM TREATMENT:
What is the problem we are trying to solve?
The world is rapidly changing, old recipes and tricks do not work today, the culture and society
demand new and lasting long solutions for current issues, new products, new business models, a
new social order is required.
“Innovation is the application of new solutions that meet new requirements, inarticulate needs, or
existing market needs. This is accomplished through more effective products, processes, services,
technologies, or ideas that are readily available to markets, governments and society. “ wikipedia
Innovation seems to be the only solution for this post modern demand.
Alpha Innovator is the creator of an Innovation Center.
Northern California is now the big cluster of Innovation Centers in the world.
If something will emerge to change the world, it will emerge from Northern California, it will
emerge from the creation of an Alpha Innovator.
How will be the piece be used?
As inspiration for creation of more Innovation Centers statewide, Nationally, and Globally. Adding
more innovation clusters and driving more entrepreneurship to innovation as a new and
permanent solution for old issues.
The piece will be used to educate and activate creativity in the broad sense as well as
entertainment to fulfill the mission of Public TV as a media.
Objectives
To compel the audience to participate in the innovation process.
To inspire action and show the ease of starting an Innovation Center in Northern California in the
last few years.
Show through examples that each Alpha Innovator (creator of an Innovation Center) is the
average person with an average life, but in some moment, they felt compelled to create an
environment where innovation will flourish.
What will be done to bring about this change in thinking or behavior in the audience?
We intend to show by example, how common sense and determination in opposition to high and
sophisticated strategies drive to creation of environments thus causing innovation to flourish.
Our creative approach will be to create a TV Show in a binary orbit of a companion website
working as an interactive repository of ideas and information.
An Advisory Board formed by experts guiding the show in the direction of the most significant and
interesting examples of creation of Innovation Centers.
Short documentaries, 30 minutes each, once a month showing real success stories and real
people with big realizations in the field of the creation of innovation centers.
D. WHAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIP DO YOU WANT WITH KQED/KTEH?
KQED/KTEH to produce
KQED will act as a Producer, sharing ownership, copyright, etc., KQED will capture 30% or 40% of funding
in common fundraising efforts and KQED will be responsible to provide Tech people as: Studio Director,
Admin, Line Producer, Production Services, atc.
E. Please describe how you see KQED working with you on this project.
How we see KQED working with us in the project:
We believe the Show “Alpha Innovator” fits in the KQED'S production and programming priorities
because:
Fits in KQED’s mission:
The Show is a source of information, education, and/or entertainment, and will reflect the values
KQED places on human dignity, lifelong learning, the power of ideas, and the importance of the
communities that we serve.
For our Northern California audiences. The show does encourage people to think and explore
new ideas of creation of innovation Centers. The show promotes lifelong learning experiences,
encourages civic participation, and opens a door for community service when the innovation
center is nonprofit.
Fits in KQED’s audience strategy:
The show is the first one in the world to cover the conception of Innovation Centers. Those
excited with innovation are prospective viewers, but because of it’s entertainment value, the show
can be viewed as a simple documentary.
The show is based only in Northern California:
The subject matter is especially relevant to Northern California, (and the West, and the Pacific
Rim) because this is the big cluster of Innovation Centers in the world. Here we have Innovation
Centers, Venture Capital, skilled employees and corporation consumers of innovation. The
history of innovation has been written in Northern California.
Our potential partners are anyone in the ecosystem of innovation (plenty in Northern California), at
this moment, before we start the show we already have engaged in the project corporations like
Tango, Innovation Centers like Techshop, and Academia like Stanford and Singularity University
Our business plan is in Attachment D  Business Plan.
At this moment we have not started the underwriting and fundraising campaigns.
At this moment we do not have any defined planning of program sales.
At this moment we do not have any other potential revenues secured or projected than
underwriting by a key members of Innovation Center Ecosystem.
Expense Budget. See Attachment K
There is no cost associated with Meetups and other social events.
F. WHY WOULD PEOPLE WANT TO WATCH IT?
Innovation is the word of the moment, every time someone sees something about innovation, they
feel compelled to stop and listen. I think that Northern California has the big cluster of innovation
in the world and everyone in the ecosystem of innovation is connected in some way with news
about innovation, documentaries about innovation and shows about innovation.
KQED traditionally broadcasts noncommercial shows and documentaries that is the perfect fit for
this show.
G. WHY WOULD FUNDERS WANT TO FUND IT?
We have never formally requested any funding at this moment. The members of the ecosystem of
Innovation have vested interest in funding this project due to the intrinsic relationship between
marketing of this Innovation Center and the TV show.
We have requested volunteer work from friends and associates and have had a positive response.
The members of the ecosystem of Innovation have vested interest in funding this project due to
the intrinsic relationship between marketing of this Innovation Center and the media.
H. HOW DO YOU THINK THIS PROGRAM FITS WITH KQED’S PRODUCTION AND PROGRAMMING
PRIORITIES?
We think this program fits in KQED’s Production and Programing priorities because:
1 The focus is a phenomenon currently particular to Northern California,
2  Fits with the KQED mission and audience strategy,
3  Is consistent with the KQED brand and makes financial sense,
4  Has distribution potential and impact beyond the TV Show,
5  Is entertaining and enlightening.

Producer and Creator of Alpha Innovator  January 2013 – Present (7 months)
I am pleased to introduce a cable TV show that is designed to honor local innovators. Our show
“Alpha Innovator,” is a US Cable Public TV Show produced in Silicon Valley, California. Planned
broadcast is in the United States in 2014.
This year I will be interviewing the most exciting people from Silicon Valley, the “Alpha
Innovators.” These are the men and women who have been responsible for envisioning and
bringing to fruition the Innovation Centers that are responsible for transforming technology and
organizations across the world. In the program, our journey will begin at the moment of the
original idea and continue up to the day of the Grand Opening. The program will include analysis,
interviews, computer presentations, business model templates and other images showing both the
challenges of the journey and the results of this process of creation.
The web site supporting the show will be up and running soon. The website is modeled to have a
posting of all shows including raw material, analysis, interviews, computer presentations, business
models and documentation that has been collected. All documents, business plans and videos are
copyrighted by us and free for use, ready for download.
It has been a fantastic journey thus far interviewing the people responsible for the creation of the
dynamic climate we live in. This project is of particular interest to me because of my own journey.
Born in the Brazilian jungle, I have had an amazing trajectory in the United States and relate to
and learn from these men and women who have made personal and societal changes with their
innovative approaches.

material (“the Program Material”); the title, form, theme and characters of which are completely and
accurately described on the attached form.  I make this submission with the following understanding:
I warrant that I am the creator of the Program Material and that, to the best of my knowledge, such
Program Materials is original to me and I possess the sole right to it.
I am disclosing the Program Material upon my own volition. I acknowledge that unless and until
KQED/KTEH and I have executed a written agreement providing the use of the Program Material, I
will receive no compensation and KQED/KTEH will have no obligation to me in any respect
whatsoever with regard to the Program Material.
I agree that any communication, whether oral or written, I may have with KQED/KTEH with respect
to the Program Material will not constitute any agreement, express or implied, as to the purchase or
use of any of the Program Material. I acknowledge that KQED/KTEH will have the absolute right to
reject the Program Material.
I acknowledge that KQED/KTEH’s employees or other persons may have submitted or may hereafter
submit to KQED/KTEH material (I) based o idea, theme, situation, dialogue or other element
contained in the Program Material, or (ii) situated in the same geographical area or historical period
as the Program Material. I understand that KQED/KTEH will, without obligation of any kind to me,
be free to produce or distribute a production which has the same or similar topics as the Program
Material so long as KQED/KTEH’s production does not utilize any element of the Program Material
subject to copyright protection by me.
I hereby release KQED from liability for loss of failure to preserve or return the Program Material to
me, and from any obligation to treat the Program Material as confidential communication.
I acknowledge that but for my agreement to the above terms and conditions, KQED/KTEH would not
consider the Program Material that I am submitting.
Sincerely,
By: (signature)_______________________________________________________________

  • 4. Innovation Center. We will start the conversation by asking why they felt compelled to create an                              Innovation Center. After we will ask how they came up with the main steps of the process and                                  will then we will go step by step on their journey illustrated by images, graphics, business model                                charts, and other important and relevant information and documents connected with each step of                          the creation process. A step by step process that encompassess budget estimates, testimonies of                          others involved in the creation of the center, and testimonies of experts in the related field. • 5. C. PROGRAM TREATMENT: What is the problem we are trying to solve? The world is rapidly changing, old recipes and tricks do not work today, the culture and society                                demand new and lasting long solutions for current issues, new products, new business models, a                            new social order is required. “Innovation is the application of new solutions that meet new requirements, inarticulate needs, or                          existing market needs. This is accomplished through more effective products, processes, services,                      technologies, or ideas that are readily available to markets, governments and society. “ wikipedia Innovation seems to be the only solution for this post modern demand. Alpha Innovator is the creator of an Innovation Center. Northern California is now the big cluster of Innovation Centers in the world. If something will emerge to change the world, it will emerge from Northern California, it will                              emerge from the creation of an Alpha Innovator. How will be the piece be used? As inspiration for creation of more Innovation Centers statewide, Nationally, and Globally. Adding                        more innovation clusters and driving more entrepreneurship to innovation as a new and                        permanent solution for old issues. The piece will be used to educate and activate creativity in the broad sense as well as                                entertainment to fulfill the mission of Public TV as a media. Objectives To compel the audience to participate in the innovation process. To inspire action and show the ease of starting an Innovation Center in Northern California in the                                last few years. Show through examples that each Alpha Innovator (creator of an Innovation Center) is the                          average person with an average life, but in some moment, they felt compelled to create an                              environment where innovation will flourish. What will be done to bring about this change in thinking or behavior in the audience? We intend to show by example, how common sense and determination in opposition to high and                              sophisticated strategies drive to creation of environments thus causing innovation to flourish. Our creative approach will be to create a TV Show in a binary orbit of a companion website                                  working as an interactive repository of ideas and information. An Advisory Board formed by experts guiding the show in the direction of the most significant and                                interesting examples of creation of Innovation Centers. Short documentaries, 30 minutes each, once a month showing real success stories and real                          people with big realizations in the field of the creation of innovation centers. D. WHAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIP DO YOU WANT WITH KQED/KTEH? KQED/KTEH to produce
  • 6. KQED will act as a Producer, sharing ownership, copyright, etc., KQED will capture 30% or 40% of funding                                  in common fundraising efforts and KQED will be responsible to provide Tech people as: Studio Director,                              Admin, Line Producer, Production Services, atc. E. Please describe how you see KQED working with you on this project. How we see KQED working with us in the project: We believe the Show “Alpha Innovator” fits in the KQED'S production and programming priorities                          because: Fits in KQED’s mission: The Show is a source of information, education, and/or entertainment, and will reflect the values                            KQED places on human dignity, lifelong learning, the power of ideas, and the importance of the                              communities that we serve. For our Northern California audiences. The show does encourage people to think and explore                          new ideas of creation of innovation Centers. The show promotes lifelong learning experiences,                        encourages civic participation, and opens a door for community service when the innovation                        center is nonprofit. Fits in KQED’s audience strategy: The show is the first one in the world to cover the conception of Innovation Centers. Those                                excited with innovation are prospective viewers, but because of it’s entertainment value, the show                          can be viewed as a simple documentary. The show is based only in Northern California: The subject matter is especially relevant to Northern California, (and the West, and the Pacific                            Rim) because this is the big cluster of Innovation Centers in the world. Here we have Innovation                                Centers, Venture Capital, skilled employees and corporation consumers of innovation. The                    history of innovation has been written in Northern California. Our potential partners are anyone in the ecosystem of innovation (plenty in Northern California), at                            this moment, before we start the show we already have engaged in the project corporations like                              Tango, Innovation Centers like Techshop, and Academia like Stanford and Singularity University Our business plan is in Attachment D  Business Plan. At this moment we have not started the underwriting and fundraising campaigns. At this moment we do not have any defined planning of program sales. At this moment we do not have any other potential revenues secured or projected than                            underwriting by a key members of Innovation Center Ecosystem. Expense Budget. See Attachment K There is no cost associated with Meetups and other social events.
  • 7. F. WHY WOULD PEOPLE WANT TO WATCH IT? Innovation is the word of the moment, every time someone sees something about innovation, they                            feel compelled to stop and listen. I think that Northern California has the big cluster of innovation                                in the world and everyone in the ecosystem of innovation is connected in some way with news                                about innovation, documentaries about innovation and shows about innovation. KQED traditionally broadcasts noncommercial shows and documentaries that is the perfect fit for                        this show. G. WHY WOULD FUNDERS WANT TO FUND IT? We have never formally requested any funding at this moment. The members of the ecosystem of Innovation have vested interest in funding this project due to the intrinsic relationship between marketing of this Innovation Center and the TV show. We have requested volunteer work from friends and associates and have had a positive response. The members of the ecosystem of Innovation have vested interest in funding this project due to the intrinsic relationship between marketing of this Innovation Center and the media. H. HOW DO YOU THINK THIS PROGRAM FITS WITH KQED’S PRODUCTION AND PROGRAMMING PRIORITIES? We think this program fits in KQED’s Production and Programing priorities because: 1 The focus is a phenomenon currently particular to Northern California, 2  Fits with the KQED mission and audience strategy, 3  Is consistent with the KQED brand and makes financial sense, 4  Has distribution potential and impact beyond the TV Show, 5  Is entertaining and enlightening.
