You become eligible if your existing heaters are over 10 years old and you receive a qualifying benefit.

The Application Process
CAN WE APPLY FOR FREE INSULATION TOO?
As part of the government drive to do a ” Whole House Approach ” every house is given a FREE Insulation Check to
see if your home is adequately insulated.

If you are found to need insulation, it will be carried out FREE OF CHARGE!
ARE ALL ELECTRIC HEATERS ELIGIBLE FOR THE SCHEME ?
The funding is predominantly aimed at old electric plug in panel heaters, but there is some funding available to replace
old storage heaters too.
We will check your property for free.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE ?
Average Time For Completion Is Usually Around 14 Days From applying.
The Boiler Usually Takes Around 6 Hours To Fit.
DO YOU NEED AN ECONOMY 7 METER?
Yes
To use Economy 7 electricity, you need to have 2 meters fitted to record daytime unit usage as well as night time usage.
Your power supplier can arrange the fitting of a new meter free of charge if you are thinking of switching to storage
heaters.

The scheme is a replacement scheme for old heaters only.

ARE ALL HEATERS REPLACED UNDER THE SCHEME?
In most cases, fewer heaters will be needed as the new heaters will be high heat retention ones which stay hotter for
longer and have greater heat drift.
This Will reduce your electric bills considerably.
CAN I CHOOSE THE MAKE OF HEATERS?
If your storage heater grant is approved, the make of storage heater will depend on which installer you are allocated.
The make will also be down to which heater will provide the most optimal heating solution for your home too.
If you do want a particular make of heater, you will need to pay privately out of your own pocket.
ARE THERE FREE STORAGE HEATERS FOR PENSIONERS?
Pensioners can apply for this grant if they are in receipt of guarantee Pension Credit or a qualifying disability benefit.
State pension does not qualify on its own sorry.

ARE THERE STORAGE HEATER GRANTS FOR SCOTLAND AND WALES
Funding for Free Storage Heaters has just been released to cover Scotland And Wales. If you currently reside in these
locations, you are now eligible to apply for the grant
REPLACING STORAGE HEATERS WITH GAS CENTRAL HEATING
If you wish to upgrade to Gas Central Heating, there is funding available for you to access.
This is only available if you can have gas to the property and you may need to pay a small contribution towards it.
