1. Connecting Essay 3
This image is an image I captured myself, I am very happy
with the overall image, as this was something I hadn’t
planned yet I thought of it when on shoot. I am pleased with
it because it was a sort of action shot; by this I mean the
horse had its head up and I quickly zoomed in to photograph
it. I like the angle I have taken it on because the side angle
shows a lot more going on. I also like how the background is
blurry because this makes the horse look more in focus and
you can see more detail this way, for example the fur and
the bridle. Another thing I like about this photo is the
different mix of colours on the horse, this contrasts against
the background which is very light in comparison to all the
dark mixes of colours on the horse. The fact the horse has
got grass in its mouth makes the image more interesting,
while also reflecting their nature.
This is an image I found online which I really liked and
thought was a bit similar to mine. I like how the horse is
tilting its head making the nose at an angle as this is
something different and I think looks attractive for the
viewer. Another thing I like is how you cane see lots of
detail within the photo, for example you can see all the
different colours of hair on the horse while also being able
to see the whiskers coming off. This then stands out against
the background as the background is quite light. Another
thing, which drew my attention, was the fact that the floor
looks like it has snowing, which I thought, gave of a cold
atmosphere/chill.
These two images can be linked together because they both are mainly focused on the
nose of the horse. They both can be considered as close-up photography because you
can see lots of detail within both images, for example you can see the colours and the
individual hairs on the horse which portray close-up detail. Even though the image from
the Internet has been taken closer than mine I would say my image could be considered
as more close-up beause I think you can see more detail in my image. This is mainly due
to the fact that the lighting in the image form the Internet is blocking the detail as its
darkened down that part of the nose. Similarly in both these images the backgrounds
are both quite light, this is good because it empahsises the horses nose more.
