This document outlines a 12 lesson scheme of work for an 8th year group art project on interpreting the horror genre through a collaborative piece inspired by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Students will create miniature spooky houses with layered silhouetted images inside to form a large stacked house. Lessons include revisiting prior drama work on Darkwood Manor, drawing pen and water spooky houses with atmospheric mark making, creating a portrait of Frankenstein's monster from a quote, and a collage of the monster using anatomical and archaeological studies. The project aims to develop students' understanding of translating description and narrative into images through research and applying various materials and techniques.
