  4. 4. ICH LEGE TEDDY AUF DEN TISCH. I’m putting Teddy on the table and he’s laying there now.
  5. 5. ICH STELLE TEDDY AUF DEN TISCH. I’m putting Teddy on the table and he’s standing there.
  6. 6. ICH SETZE TEDDY AUF DEN TISCH. I’m putting Teddy on the table and he’s sitting there now.
  7. 7. ICH LEGE DIE KULIS AUF DEN TISCH. I put the pens on the table. I cannot stand them up, they have to be laid on the table, otherwise they fall over.
  8. 8. ICH STELLE DIE TASSE AUF DEN TISCH. I put the cup on the table. I have to stand it up. If I laid it on the table, my tea would run out and ruin the table and / or I’d burn myself.
  9. 9. ICH SETZE DEN DINOSAURIER AUF DEN TISCH. I put the dinosaur on the table so that it’s sitting. It’s not laying on the table or standing.
