1. Lindbergh Middle School Winter Guard
We are happy to offer Middle School Winter Guard as a component of the after-school activity
program. The program is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.
Winter guard is designed to provide an opportunity for middle school students who wish to gain
pageantry experience and develop coordination, physical expression, artistic interpretation, and
equipment manipulation skills. Participation is suggested, but not a pre-requisite, for involvement in
the Lindbergh High School Color Guard program.
Concepts will include:
~ Flag Technique
~ Weapon Technique(Rifle/Sabre)
~ Principles of Body Movement
~ Choreography
~ Fundamentals of Classical dance
~ Traveling Techniques
~ Interpretive Practices
Auditions: A maximum of 30 students will be accepted through a two-day clinic/audition process.
Students will learn a small routine and will be scored on their accomplishment and improvement over
the audition period. This year’s auditions will be Wednesday, October 3rd and Wednesday,
October 10th from 3:00-4:15 in the Sperreng Gymnasium.
Fees: After a successful audition, students must pay the confirmation fee of $60.00. Additionally, a
costuming and equipment fee of $100.00 is required. This fee fluctuates year to year and is subject to
reduction when the group size grows over 16 members.
Rehearsals: Rehearsals will be held on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:15 after school in the gym at
Sperreng Middle School, AND select Fridays from 3:00- 5:00. Occasionally, rehearsals may be held in
the multi-purpose room at Lindbergh High School.
Attendance: As with any performance group, attendance is crucial to the production of a quality
presentation. Missed rehearsal causes hindrances to the member who is absent and the entire group. A
student with three unexcused absences will be dismissed from the program without refund.
Contest Schedule – Competitive events are scheduled as part of the Mid-Continent Color Guard
Association(MCCGA). Lindbergh Middle School Winter Guard will not participate in all events.
Most competitions are Saturday events. Our contest schedule will be finalized in January.
