- What kind of media institutions might
distribute your media product and why?
I believe that a conglomerate would be a better
choice to develop and distribute our film. This is
because of the fact that a conglomerate would allow
our film to have a bigger budget as it’s not just one
company funding, it’s a group of companies working
together. With this money we’d be able to go all out
with visual effects which is typical of thriller films
and they would have a bigger access to different
markets. Independent institutes don’t always have
this same customer pool. Also, from the previous
slide you may have recognised these institutions.
Conglomerates are well known and films produced by
them have a habit of being sold because the audience
assumes the film will be good as they are producing
it. Independent institutes are less well known and
wouldn’t have a same effect.
 However, conglomerates want some control over the
film so that the film doesn’t fall short of their
expectations and so that their reputation isn’t
damaged by any flops. Therefore, our film would
have to remain basic and the director would lose
some of his/her power which doesn’t really affect my
product as it’s already a thriller with a basic
storyline. However, as our film consists of many
things to do with England, an English audience may
appeal more to us than an American conglomerate so
Film4 Films could possibly be an option as it’s an
English independent institution that would attract an
audience and would guarantee full control over our
film. This means we could implement unique plot
twists and storylines that would interest an audience
as it’s something they haven’t seen before.
 Legendary Pictures.
This is because it’s a very
successful conglomerate that has
produced films such as:
http://www.imdb.com/company/co0159111/
As you can see they have produced many
successful films and are particularly well known
for their thriller films such as the dark knight
trilogy, inception and the reasonably knew film
Dracula untold. With their money, market links
and experience, I feel this would be the best
film institute to distribute our product.
