The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

✅What is C++ Programming?
C++ is an enhanced and extended version of C programming language, developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1979 as part of his Ph.D. project. Bjarne developed what he called ‘C with Classes’ (later renamed C++) because he felt limited by the existing programming languages that were not ideal for large scale projects. He used C to build what he wanted because C was already a general-purpose language that was efficient and fast in its operations.
✅C++ Career Prospects:
With just C++ programming expertise, you will have excellent job opportunities, salaries, and career prospects. However, for a career based on programming languages such as Java and Python (which are in more demand than C++) or for careers based on front-end, back-end, and full-stack
1. Saying Goodbye to Dental Discomfort: A Guide to Permanently
Killing a Tooth Nerve
Dealing with tooth pain can be a distressing experience. When the pain becomes chronic or
severe, it may be necessary to consider how to permanently kill a tooth nerve in the
affected tooth. This procedure, known as a root canal treatment, aims to alleviate pain and
prevent the need for tooth extraction. If you're considering this option, here is a guide to help
you understand the process and what to expect.
Consultation with a Dentist: The first step is to schedule a consultation with a dentist. They
will examine your tooth, take X-rays, and evaluate the condition of the nerve. Based on their
assessment, they will determine whether a root canal treatment is necessary or if alternative
options should be explored.
Administering Local Anesthesia: Before the procedure, the dentist will administer a local
anesthetic to ensure you're comfortable and pain-free during the treatment. This will numb
the area around the affected tooth.
Accessing the Tooth's Nerve: Once the area is numb, the dentist will create a small opening
in the tooth, allowing access to the pulp chamber and the root canals. This is where the
nerve is located.
Cleaning and Disinfecting: Using specialized dental instruments, the dentist will carefully
remove the infected or damaged nerve tissue from the root canals. They will also clean and
disinfect the canals to eliminate any bacteria or debris.
Filling the Canals: After the canals are thoroughly cleaned, the dentist will fill them with a
biocompatible material called gutta-percha. This seals the canals and prevents further
infection.
Restoring the Tooth: In most cases, a tooth that has undergone a root canal treatment will
require additional restoration. The dentist may place a dental crown or filling to protect and
strengthen the tooth. This step ensures the tooth functions properly and blends in with your
natural teeth.
Post-Treatment Care: After the procedure, it is essential to follow the dentist's instructions
for post-treatment care. This may include avoiding hard or sticky foods, practicing good oral
hygiene, and scheduling regular dental check-ups.
It's important to note that while a root canal treatment permanently kills the tooth nerve, it
does not mean the tooth becomes completely lifeless. The tooth can still function and
provide support, but it will no longer experience pain or sensitivity.
Permanently killing a tooth nerve through a root canal treatment has several benefits. It
alleviates tooth pain, preserves the natural tooth structure, and avoids the need for
2. extraction. Additionally, it restores normal chewing function and maintains the alignment of
surrounding teeth.
However, it's crucial to consult with a qualified dentist to determine if a root canal treatment
is the best course of action for your specific dental condition. They will consider various
factors, such as the extent of infection, the tooth's condition, and your overall oral health.
Remember, proper oral hygiene practices, regular dental check-ups, and timely treatment of
dental issues can help prevent the need for extensive procedures like root canals. If you
experience tooth pain or suspect a dental problem, don't hesitate to reach out to a dental
professional for an evaluation and appropriate treatment recommendations.
By taking proactive steps and seeking timely dental care, you can say goodbye to dental
discomfort and maintain a healthy, pain-free smile.
