This chapter will discuss a topic of sin and freedom. The reason why this question is raised is that freedom is not only the freedom of God, but the freedom of indulgence without any control in the mind of the world. It is a kind of freedom that can only live in fantasy and It is not the actual freedom in the world. It is like you can drive freely on the road, but you must obey the traffic rules, and others must also obey the traffic rules. But once you do not obey the traffic rules, then, there will be car accidents. In a better situation, the police will issue a ticket. The more serious situation is the endanger of life. Then what is the situation of freedom as God speaks of?

3. abide in My word => make you free

you are My disciples indeed.”

the truth shall make you free." ”
• 2Cor. 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and
where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

4. cleanses us from all sin
• 1John. 1:7 “But if we walk in the light as He is in
the light, we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us
from all sin.”
• Rom. 8:1 “There is therefore now no
condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus”
• Rom. 8:2 “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ
Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and
death.”

5. gives birth to sin / forgive us our sins
• James. 1:15 “Then, when desire has conceived, it
gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown,
brings forth death.”
• 1John. 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we
deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
• 1John. 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful
and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.”
• James. 4:17 “Therefore, to him who knows to do
good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

6. whatever is not from faith is sin
• James. 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw
near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and
purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
• Rom. 14:23 “But he who doubts is condemned if
he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for
whatever is not from faith is sin.”
• 【Isaiah 64:6】「All of us have become like one
who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like
filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the
wind our sins sweep us away.」

7. if Christ is in you
• Rom. 8:10 “And if Christ is in you, the body is
dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because
of righteousness.”
• Rom. 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
• 2Pet. 2:20 “For if, after they have escaped the
pollutions of the world through the knowledge
of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are
again entangled in them and overcome, the
latter end is worse for them than the beginning.”

anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My
Father will love him, and We will come to him and
make Our home with him.”

10. Conclusion remark
• From the above discussion, we can know that only
when Jesus Christ lives inward can we be free.
However, once many people have tasted the Lord’s
grace, they no longer obey God’s way, ignorant that
God can indwell and he can also leave. So at that time
your freedom is no longer the freedom of God, but the
freedom to indulge in the flesh and desires, then your
result may be more worse than before without the
indwelling of Christ. Because you think that Jesus Christ
will always Live in us obediently and never leave, and
don’t know that this kind of indwelling situation will
change at any time
