The document discusses modelling standards and fashion. It outlines plans for a project to influence perceptions of models in the northeast, showcase diversity, and challenge stereotypes. The project will be led by Laila Louise and Alexander Fowler with others. The document contrasts stereotypical perceptions of tall, tanned models with the reality of tall, skinny models preferred by agencies. It also discusses the role of social media in modelling and different modelling niches like streetwear and high fashion.

• Laila Louise
• Alexander Fowler
• Lucy Mclaren
• Mathew Tulip
• Adam Johnson
• Emmalyn Stubbs
• Charlotte Lightfoot
3. Ideas
• Influence peoples opinion about models within the north east.
• Showcase the diversity within the modelling scene.
• Kill the stereotype of a ‘basic model’ that has been created.
• Educate people upon models and fashion in the north east.
4. Stereotypical image
In modern day modelling, the typical model preferably in the UK is
always perceived to be tall, tanned and muscly for males and a
Kardashian-esk look for females. This has typically been influenced due
to social media. This can make young people feel insecure.
5. Actual Modelling Standards
In contrast to the stereotypical image to a model, actual models are the
complete opposite. Tall, skinny are the sort of people that modelling
agencies look for to walk cat walks. Especially at big fashion shows
across the world. Normally high end brands require these models.
6. Social Media
Social media is a huge platform for models to be spotted as its sort of
an portfolio for people. Along with social media models, huge amounts
of brands have been created due to the amount of models accessible.
Also a huge influence in the north east is the MTV show Geordie Shore,
a lot of the people on the show models for street brands in the UK and
have pretty much made huge brands by their selves.
7. Streetwear
• Streetwear is a huge industry for modelling, we usually see muscly
athletes modelling for brands such as JD, Nike and Adidas.
• Often Instagram models are often perfect for this as they often
possess the tailored needs. You always see sports athletes as well
modelling for these companies. Football youth academy players are
always picked to model for JD.
• Footballers like, Cristiano Ronaldo, Dele alli and James Rodriquez are
often candidates.
8. High End
• High end fashion has a huge amount of models looking for work.
• The huge brands such as Gucci, Balenciaga and Versace always host
annual fashion cat shows where the biggest models in the industry
are always present.
• Individuals who model for these brands are often of the skinny or
slightly muscular build. Models such as Stephen James, David gandy
or Sara Sampaio are big names in high end fashion.
