 You can’t kill the monsters, you need to trap them to
unlock doors and move to the next stage

 Each monster has a different way of trying to kill you
 Collect tools along the way to defeat the final boss
 Items can also help make levels easier; if you miss an item,
you can go back for it, but you can still get past monsters
without it, it will just be more difficult.
 If you get hit by a monster your “health” goes down, though
there is no health bar; you can only get hit a certain amount of
times before you die
 Therefore the more you get hit the longer it takes for you to get
to full health again, you will be more vulnerable for longer.

 Ambiguous inventory
 Map will form as you move throughout the castle
 In hallways, music will cue you that a monster is approaching
 In rooms, monster will show up or will be hiding somewhere; no music cue
 Timeline: Over the course of a night
 When you complete the game you get to play as the monsters, creating
the mazes for Victor, and have to use the secret passageways in the
castle to get to Victor undetected.
 Playing as Victor is the survival horror perspective; action perspective
 Playing as monsters is stealth, problem-solving perspective

 Eerie music
 Black and white
 Dark – eerie lighting effects; lightning, candles, light
flickers
 Some sections of the game there aren't any lights
 Might find a torch at the beginning of the room and
need to get through before it burns out.
