2. In psychology, social psychology is the scientific study of how people's thoughts, feelings, and
behaviours are influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others. We experience
many varieties of social behaviours in our daily lives. In order to increase awareness and
sharpened sensitivity to human behaviour, I had done an observation in Bandar Sri Damansara
Papparich restaurant to understand better about social psychological theories and concepts in our
lives. We all have different schemas about a restaurant. When entering this place, people who
don’t know the place might
think of it as a Malaysian
styled place with its
wooden flooring and
furniture. Personally, the
place gives me a homey
feeling as the environment
is pleasant and
comfortable. The foods
served there are mainly
Malaysian foods but they
also provide westerns as
well. They are delicious and
yet at reasonable prices. The interior walls are made up of red bricks to give out that authentic look
while the air conditioning cools up the inside. Due to representative heuristic, the wooden chairs in
the picture reminds me of the wooden chairs that I used to have. Observe the group of customers
in the left side of the picture. From my view, the way the women in the yellow dress is sitting shows
her comfort while she attentively page through the menu. Beside her table, there’s an uncle in a
white shirt with stripes looking on to his right. His face expression shows that he’s looking for
assistance from one of the waiter walking by. I have realised my power of automatic thinking and
unconscious thinking by observing the settings and human’s behaviour. While studying the
different kind of human behaviour, we strengthen our sensitivity through learning about social
psychology theories and concept.
