2. The video is done in a narrative way but it was
animated. The music video doesn't’t quite tell the story
of the music but as in Goodwin’s analysis there is a
relationship between the lyrics and the visuals. The
music and visuals are also related because the visuals
are in sync with the music i.e. the pace of the music
goes with the visuals.
In this exact scene the lyrics was “ship will carry our bodies
safe to shore” this is part of Goodwin’s analysis because
the lyrics and the visuals are related.
Although this is an Indie Rock video there are no stage performances and the audience can see
that the music video had a high budget compared to other indie rock videos. The video the
style of the band and shows the audience what the band’s like because most of their music
videos are done in the same way.
In the scene the lyrics was incorporated into the
video by the animated bird singing along.
HEY!
3. In the scene the lyrics was incorporated into
the video by the animated woman singing
along by spitting fire out of her mouth to kill
the bird.
HEY!
The video is a narrative but not a straight narrative
like a story. The video is related to the lyrics because
the lyric is about trying to get to safety or sanity
which is represented by an unknown island that they
all want to get to. But things like truth are hindering
the way. The truth is represented in the video as the
birds, squid and other creatures that want to get
them. The ship that will carry their body safe to shore
is represented by the woman guiding their way. The
use of props like ship and telescope help the
audience understand the narrative if the music.
