During the past 17 years, I have had the privilege of building a culture of operational excellence in
several prestigious hedge funds. As a senior leader in these firms, I developed a broad base of
professional experience and leadership capability. While serving as the Director of Operations for Tiger
Management and Highbridge Capital, and the Chief Operating Officer for three start-up funds, I
developed my expertise in the area of hedge fund operations. I am confident that my experience and
effective leadership style, as well as the robust network of contacts within the hedge fund industry
enables me to be a valuable asset in various roles.
At Highbridge Capital, I built a world-class operations group which supported the firm’s rapid growth
from $8 billion to $37 billion under management in less than 2 years. During Tiger Management’s
tremendous growth in the 1990’s, the operations group was recognized as an innovator in building
operations support for hedge funds. I have also served as Chief Operating Officer for three startup
funds, creating the operational framework and detailing the necessary processes and procedures to
produce an efficient operating environment.
In August, 2009, I founded Alternative Diligence, LLC. The firm is designed to offer “Assurance in
Operational Risk Management” and provides due diligence services to hedge fund investors as well as
advising hedge funds on how to develop and maintain a proper approach to operational excellence. As
a part of launching Alternative Diligence, I created a proprietary and comprehensive survey designed to
identify areas of significant strength or weakness in a fund’s operations. The survey evaluates a fund’s
adherence to operational best practices guidelines, and in turn, enables the fund to implement these
guidelines within their operational framework.
In authoring the 10 Commandments For Achieving Operational Excellence (available at
AlternativeDiligence.com), I clearly documented many pertinent issues that hedge funds and alternative
investors should monitor. The white paper encompasses a broad array of important considerations
ranging from the ethical culture instilled by management, to best practice controls and procedures,
along with specific details which must be considered when evaluating service providers or a Business
Continuity Plan.
The recent global financial upheaval and well-publicized scandals have made operational management
and oversight more important than ever. I believe that to restore and maintain investor confidence,
hedge funds must demonstrate a solid and secure operational environment, supported by effective
character-driven leadership at all levels. My expertise is in developing an infrastructure which will
contribute to investor confidence and to an organization’s continued success.
Attached, please find my resume which details my professional accomplishments and background
information. I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how I can be of service and
how my extensive experience can add value to your organization.
Very best,
