JESUS AND WE 2 - SPIRITUAL CONTRIBUTORS - PTR. ALVIN GUTIERREZ - 10AM MORNING SERVICE
1.

3. 35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want
you to do for us whatever we ask.” 36 “What do
you want me to do for you?” he asked. 37
They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right
and the other at your left in your glory.” 38 “You
don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said.
Mark 10:35-45
“Can you drink the cup I drink or be
baptized with the baptism I am baptized
with?” 39 “We can,” they answered. Jesus said
to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be
baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, 40
but to sit at my right or left is not for me to
grant. These places belong to those for whom
they have been prepared.”
41 When the ten heard about this, they became
indignant with James and John. 42 Jesus
called them together and said, “You know that
those who are regarded as rulers of the
Gentiles lord it over them, and their high
officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so
with you.
Instead, whoever wants to become great
among you must be your servant, 44 and
whoever wants to be first must be slave of
all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come
to be served, but to serve, and to give his
life as a ransom for many.”
4. To serve to be blessed.
It is the best way to be
promoted.
To serve is a privilege
not a right.
Service requires going
through pain and
sacrifice.
Jesus modeled the right
way to serve. He was
selfless and generous.
5. 36 Then Jesus went with them to a place
called Gethsemane, and he said to his
disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and
pray.” 37 And taking with him Peter and the two
sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful
and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My
soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain
here, and watch with me.”
Matthew 26:36-40
39 And going a little farther he fell on his
face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be
possible, let this cup pass from me;
nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” 40
And he came to the disciples and found
them sleeping.
6. 35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want
you to do for us whatever we ask.” 36 “What do
you want me to do for you?” he asked. 37
They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right
and the other at your left in your glory.” 38
“You don’t know what you are asking,”
Jesus said.
Mark 10:35-38
7. Promotion is connected
to our ability to suffer.
It’s what we do with
problems, it’s what we
do in difficulties.
How you handle those
difficult moments
determines the level of
promotion that you will
have.
8. Mark 10:38
“Can you drink the cup I drink or be
baptized with the baptism I am baptized
with?”
10. 31 Meanwhile His disciples urged Him, “Rabbi,
eat something.” 32 But He said to them, “I
have food to eat that you know nothing
about.” 33 Then His disciples said to each
other, “Could someone have brought Him
food?” 34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the
will of Him Who sent Me and to finish His
work.
John 4:31-34
11. 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given
all things into his hands, and that he had
come from God and was going back to
God, 4 rose from supper. He laid aside his
outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it
around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into
a basin and began to wash the disciples'
feet and to wipe them with the towel that
John 13:31-34
was wrapped around him. 6 He came to
Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, do you
wash my feet?” 7 Jesus answered him, “What
I am doing you do not understand now,
but afterward you will understand.” 8 Peter
said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.”
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you,
you have no share with me.”
9 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my
feet only but also my hands and my
head!”
12. 35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
came to him.

41 When the ten heard about this, they became

20. God never meant for
the church to be a
building.
Church is not a building.
Church is the people.
We don’t go to church
- we are the Church.
21. Romans 12: 6-8
6 In his grace, God has given us different
gifts for doing certain things well. So if God
has given you the ability to prophesy,
speak out with as much faith as God has
given you. 7 If your gift is serving others,
serve them well. If you are a teacher,
teach well.
8 If your gift is to encourage others, be
encouraging. If it is giving, give
generously. If God has given you
leadership ability, take the responsibility
seriously. And if you have a gift for
showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
23. Matthew 5: 14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built
on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do
people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives
light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same
way, let your light shine before others, that
they may see your good deeds and glorify
your Father in heaven
24. Acts 4:33-34
33 The apostles testified powerfully to the
resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great
blessing was upon them all. 34 There were no
needy people among them, because those who
owned land or houses would sell them.
25. The church will be
known by how they love.
Where people serve more
than they’ve been served.
Where people love more
than they’ve been loved.
We should not judge those
without Christ —
but love them into the
family of God.
A Church where everyone
uses their gifts in the
church to equip the body of
Christ and to be the light
of the world.
26. Rule with a heart of a
servant and serve with a
heart of a king.
