TASK Connect 2 folder 04 – How can we make our school a healthier place?

You’re going to take part in a European school contest about setting up the campaign’ How to create a healthier
school environment?’, inspired by Michelle Obama’sLet’s move initiative.
In every European country one school is asked to present their ideas to the members of the European School
Council. The best group presentation will get a winning award and may take part in the contest.
You and some classmates are asked to present your ideas about how to improve the health of the pupils at our
school.
Step 1: Check your vocabulary list p 155->158 and texts read in class about this topic. ( Thanks,
Michelle!- school lunches (copies p 237)-school dinners
Step 2: Brainstorm and create a mind map about a healthier school environment. Think about how to
improve the classrooms, playground, canteen , vending machines, timetable, mental health etc..
Come up with a quality school lunch as well..( p 134)
2. Step 3: Put your ideas into an outline with bullet points. Add subtitles as well.

Step 4 . What does a quality school lunch have to have? Starter? Main dish ? Dessert? Drink? p 237
Use new vocabulary about ingredients and flavours. ( complete the word webs p 134) Try to vary
your choice of verbs and adjectives.
Step 5 : Design a powerpoint presentation or poster with visuals about your brilliant ideas.
Step 6 : Practise your presentation several times at home.( keywords, visuals , mindmap)
Pay attention to fluency, intonation, word choice and sentence structures.
Step 7 : Present your campaign to the class or take notes while your classmates are presenting their
campaigns.
