The year is 2025. Domino's Pizza is now operating a fleet of more than 2000 autonomous driving vehicles in the city of San Francisco – which has resulted quicker delivery times, and the profit margins for Domino's has increased manifold.
Instead of having a driver driving around on the streets, now a fleet of autonomous cars automatically carry the Pizzas from the kitchen to the customer's address. Instead of having more than 2000 drivers, this entire system is now managed by 1 single person: the Fleet Manager.

6. Requirements
Understanding Who will use the Fleet Management App &
What they want out of it?
Selecting Vehicles
What kind of vehicles to purchase and how many
If leased AVs, then possible maintainace and communication features between the leasors & lessee
Record Keeping
License of all the AVs valid and the fleet is in compliance with all state and federal regulations
7. Requirements
Understanding Who will use the Fleet Management App &
What they want out of it?
Maintenance
AVs need to be maintained in peak operating conditions
Set up schedules to ensure each vehicle is kept in top condition. Make sure that the optimum amount
of vehicles are working at all times to meet customer need
Likelyhood of Dominos having their ownin-house service centers with mechanics and specialists to
handle maintenance is less. Thus outsourced maintenance and repairs.
Profit & Loss
Keeping costs down and maximizing profits
Managers will look for patterns to see areas where they can cut expenses and reduce costs
8. Home Delivery in the Autonomous Age
The future can bring new value in terms of :
a. Speed: Get almost anything in the next 30 minutes
b. Selection: Get a wider set of goods delivered same-day
c. Delivery fees are negligible or be absorbed into retail prices
Positives :
a. Better Customer Convenience: Wouldn’t it be nice that you can place an order on your cell
phone and a PDD (Personal Delivery Devices) will deliver it less than 30 mins. And between cost
savings associated with not driving and pass-through savings from service providers
b. Healthier Cities and Local Businesses: Fewer people making a run for errands, is fewer
vehicles on the road, fewer accidents, and healthy air.
c. Delivery fees are negligible or be absorbed into retail prices
d. Maximize Vehicle Utilization
9. Home Delivery in the Autonomous Age
Ordering
I find the pizzas and pastas i
require for the game tonight,
and order them via my smart-
speaker.
Order Completed
An employee (or robot picker)
assembles my order into a small
AV, dispatched it to my house.
Dominos Store
My local Dominos Store (1.5
kms away) has a small fleet of
small road-based delivery AVs.
Order Received

Call it an Welcome Screen or OverView. Its the
real-time instantaneous view of your entire fleet of
vehicles. Gives you a bird’s eye view of the fleet
in the operating city.

In this case, an AV has broken down and instant
attention seeker is this banner notification. I felt
the notifications in these scenarios should provoke
more than just an alerting functionality - Events like
these should call for instant actions as well.
"
Alert Monitoring
It is of prime importance for the fleet manager to
have an eye on the weather patterns as well. As
disruptive as nature can go - it could have a huge
impact on the net performance of Fleet and ETA
of Orders.

I have assumed that there will be maximum of
three critical events - Low Battery Levels,
Unexpected Breakdowns, and Accidents - All
Summarized in the Overview, along with AV

16. Fleet
Contextual Search you can search all the AVs in
your fleet. Provided two instant filters (Active
Status and Idle). Why not Critical? I’m assuming
no fleet manager will miss the permanent global
alert (critical) messages.

18. Analytics
The Final Metric for the Fleet Manager is to
optimize the cost and hence the PnL with the
number of miles.
It's of prime importance that his avg idle time per
AV trend to zero. The first charts here represents a
YoY comparison on Number of Vehicles under
Maintainance Vs. Cumulative Number of Hours
Under Maintainance.
!
Prime Objective
Up top are some basic metrics for the Fleet
Manager understanding how his fleet is reacting
to mass amounts of orders - Is the load too much
on the vehicles? Should I add more AVs to my
Fleet? or Are we doing just fine?
AVs with Least Efficiency: Consider this as the hit
list of the AVs that should be put under the
hammer and pronounced retired.
Charge Spends: One of the most crucial aspects
of maintaining unit economics and higher outputs
have to be by keeping a close watch on the
amount of money spent on fuel ie. charging.
Top Delivery Neighbourhoods: Heat-Map Metrics
of neighborhoods in SF that have the highest
number of orders.

20. Market Place
With the unveiling of Gig Economy and ever-rising
outsourcing sector. Dominos is going to continue
what it has been doing since 1960 - Make OK
Pizzas and have the quickest delivery times.
Thus I thought it would be a great move to have
extensible functions for the fleet, such as Sale & BI
Power-ups, Insurance Plans for the Fleet, Car
Wash and Maintainance Services and you can
even subscribe to Tesla Power’s Super Charging
Station.
At Subsidized Subscription Plans, you get to track
your entire ROI of using the Services and support
functionalities in your fleet managing experience.
