1. • The camera stays at one side of the 180 degree line to give visual continuity.
• If the camera is to move over the line, it must show that the movement of the camera.
As the
interviewer is on
the left and the
interviewee is on
the right, the
camera must
show this at all
times.
2. The edit of cutting between two shots, alternatively to show a conversation. The footage
is cut, back and forth, from the two cameras, that have been filming at the same time to
show each person talking.
It is important to observe the 180 degree
rule when filming this shot.
3. Match on action is where the perspective of the camera changes during a scene but
the scene continues to flow.
Example: A scene of a woman walking into a
library to pick up a book, the camera then
changes the perspective to show what she
is read, but continuing the action.
4. A cut away includes a shot which isn't in the usual action to give the audience a
narrative clue. This usually consists of an object or different location.
Example: Filming an event at sports day of
some runners running bare foot. The shot
will cut away to show glass on the grass
which will tell the audience something bad is
going to happen.
