Under the leadership of Principal Erica Zigelman, who holds a master's degree in interrelated arts in education from New York University, six students from Middle School 322 in New York City were recognized as winners of the 2012 Be a Champion essay contest, which is hosted by the New York Jets, New York City Department of Education, and Lime Connect. The six winners from Middle School 322 attended an awards ceremony with their teachers and principal where they were personally congratulated by former New York Jets quarterback Greg McElroy.

2. INTRODUCTION
 A graduate of New York University, Erica Zigelman holds a master of arts
in interrelated arts in education. She leverages her training to serve as
principal of Middle School 322 in New York City. Under Erica Zigelman’s
leadership, the school saw six students earn recognition as Be a
Champion essay contest winners in 2012.
Each year, students in New York City have the opportunity to compete in
the Be a Champion essay contest, which is hosted by the New York Jets,
the New York City Department of Education, and Lime Connect.
Students have the opportunity to write about their goals and their plans
for attaining them, in addition to sharing what being a champion means
to them.
Of the 300 students who submitted essays in 2012, 100 were chosen as
winners. The six winner from Middle School 322 attended an awards
ceremony at Baruch College with Ms. Lindner and Ms. Rabenstein, their
English/language arts and math teachers, respectively, as well as their
principal, Ms. Zigelman. Former New York Jets quarterback Greg
McElroy also attended the event to personally congratulate the students.
