1. The video I am analyzing is called
‘In This Thang’ by the artist, Tyga.
This is a typical hip-hop/rap video
and the video is performance
based.
In hip-hop/rap videos, the men
in the video tend to wear a lot
of ‘bling’ (jewelry), here Tyga is
shown wearing a gold
bracelet, watch, chain and ear
piercing.
Females in hip-hop/rap videos tend to
wear minimal clothing, here a female is
shown wearing a very short and
revealing dress to make her seem like an
object of desire.

2. The red cup is used as a prop to give the
scene an essence of the typical ‘American
Party’ atmosphere. The bottle of alcohol is
also used as a prop to show that everyone is
partying and the alcohol is a contemporary
prop in hip-hop/rap videos.

is shown throughout the majority of
this music video, this conforms to
conventions of hip-hop/rap videos as
artists are shown lip syncing.
At this particular point of the music video, there
is a double/blurred vision effect placed, which
illustrates that everyone at the party is
intoxicated with alcohol.
