1. LANGUAGE EXCHANGE MEETINGS AT THE EOI
MAZARRÓN
Potential schedule: every Thursday from 6 to 8pm
What is all this about?
- Team up with a native Spanish speaker or a native English speaker.
- Sign up on the list below to prepare and deliver one of the lessons on the
topic you’ve chosen. There is a list of suggested topics provided but you may
add/change any of them.
- On the date of the lesson, each team will have an hour to be “the teachers”
and guide the rest of “the students” through the activities they have
previously prepared.
Any ideas to prepare a lesson?
- Provide your audience with input: something to read, a video, authentic
materials (scrapbooks, yearbooks, leaflets, brochures, maps) some easy
questions, or a speech with visual aid. Keep it simple and brief, though!
- Try to speak slowly and emphasize pronunciation of key words.
- Be ready to give feedback and praise the audience from time to time. You
should correct mistakes and cheer up your audience with a “well done!”
What can we use?
- A projector, a board, dictionaries, counters and dice for a possible board
game.
What do we need?
- Paper, construction paper, a laptop. Maybe it’s a good idea to make a list of
things you may need so that each of you contributes to the class with some
materials.
Don’t forget learning a language is more than learning a few words: it is learning a
culture, language interaction, understanding and producing, and working on
communication strategies. It is communication and a way of getting to know new
people and new ideas. It is what you need to express your emotions and express
yourself!
