Essay on Charity Watchdog Groups
In today's economy, it is more important than ever to understand where your money goes, and how it
is being used. Contributing money to a charitable organization is a great gesture, and donors deserve
to know how the money they give is being used. Charity watchdog associations play a key role in not
only keeping nonprofit organizations accountable, but in helping donors better understand how their
donations are used. Three organizations that provide information on how donations are used are:
Charity Guide (www.charityguide.org), Charity Navigator (www.charitynavigator.org), and the
American Institute of Philanthropy (www. charitywatch.org). Each of these organizations provides
resources for potential donors to determine whether they are...show more content...
Financials don't always tell the entire story of a nonprofit, and this is where many of these
watchdog groups are lacking. Watchdog groups also focus mainly on large, national nonprofits,
and do not provide information on small regional or local nonprofits. Each watchdog group offers
some of the same information about nonprofits, but they do differ in their approach: Charity Guide
Charity Guide's main goal is to promote volunteerism. They offer ways that donors can get
involved in as little as 15 minutes or by dedicating an entire vacation to volunteering. The
organization also assigns letter grades to nonprofits in a variety of categories. The criteria for a
nonprofit to receive a "B" or higher are: openly sharing financial information, spend less the
twenty–five dollars to raise one hundred dollars, and allocate at least 75% of money raised towards
charitable programs and not fundraising and general administration. These guidelines help to
establish how much of a donors money is actually being spent on the mission of a nonprofit. These
ratings and the information provided should serve as a guide for potential donors, and not the sole
information used when giving. Charity Guide does not supply how they determine these ratings
outside of "rigorous analysis". This may lead to an unfair or incomplete picture of a nonprofit
because donors don't know what information is taken into account when these ratings are assigned.

Essay on Charity
Charity A Charity is an organisation that exists to enable one group of people to help another. It can
sometimes be for animals or nature. Many of the best known charities were set up by people who
felt passionate about a situation that they believed was wrong or preventable.
There are 180 thousand charities in the United Kingdom alone. The idea of charities is to do away
with the problems they were set up to tackle. They would prefer not to have to exist at all. In the
United Kingdom it is easy to create a charity to do what you think is right. You can raise money and
get involved in your...show more content...
However, this does not solve all the problems of the world. So some would say, why bother trying?
On the other hand another way of thinking about it is – just how bad would the world be without
that money helping out? The government donates money to the charities from us, the taxpayer and
for many people they like to know where their money is going. Many charities are involved in
improving the lives of people around the globe. There are, however always lots of cynical people
who knock charities especially if the money is not spent in our country, believing that 'charity begins
at home'. Many charities in the United Kingdom do help the local people from homelessness to
cancer relief, but recently international aid – helping others in different countries is one of the most
hotly debated areas in the voluntary sector.
The aid agencies actions and their attachment or lack of it from governments are all under scrutiny.
International aid agencies attract more donations than any other charitable cause bringing in ВЈ486
million in 2001–02. This beats donations for cancer, children and animal charities.
So how do charities use their money? Charities usually need money for three things. Firstly, the
largest part of any donation goes to the cause or group for which it was
given (usually around 80%) this will pay for the people, food, medicines

Essay On Charity Run
Introduction Charity Run Charity Run is a running event for the purpose to raise fund in the
name of charity. This run is the process of doing something risky and achieve the unachievable
that you love to do to help the unfortunate. Most of the charity runs are full of fun and also
different emotions will occur because they get to contribute something like monetary to help the
less fortunate. Not only can this charity run help the unfortunate but it also can help us to keep fit
as well. But when it comes to organising the charity run, it requires a lot of planning because
anything can happen if one does not prepare well. There are many charity run that are successful
and some of it is not so successful because of some issues that occur during the process of
organising the run. Issues of Charity Run The first issues of charity run is the volunteers does not
show up on that day for the run causing a mess during that day but if the volunteers did show up on
that day, he or she are likely to be an unprofessional volunteers. They will tend to insult the
participants or donators or act like a kid when talking to other people. This kind of attitude will
definitely affect the organisation's reputation that organised this charity run. To solve...show more

Organising a charity run is not as easy as it seems because it requires a proper planning to
organise this run, from finding the best venue to finding sponsors. Not only that, when organising
a charity run, one must follow the rules by get a permission from the local council or the person
who owns the land and also from the police traffic to block the road during the event day. There
are many things to do when organising a charity run but to solve it, I will start by listing out what to
do from the most important task to the not so important task. That way, one will be able to know

The Importance Of Charity
Giving. Receiving. Donating. People are faced with several perspectives on many different issues,
one of which is charity. Charity to some people may seem controversial but the benefits reaped from
charity are for the greater good. Endowments have the potential to save the lives of loved ones or
complete strangers. Through charity the opportunity is opened to project positivity among others
and throughout the world. Donating to charity generates a source of funding for resources to people
who cannot survive. Charities support organizations who actively work to support their cause. Some
people think that charity has a negative impact on our government; however, they fail to recognize
that charity can create beneficial opportunities for the people and for the government. Therefore,
charity is crucial to life today because the impacts of charitable actions help productively eliminate
problems while providing an upstanding solution.
Donating to charity could save lives; whether a person is donating time, money, or commitment
they could be saving the life of a person in need. In "The Singer Solution to World Poverty" Peter
Singer states: "...he can throw a switch that will divert the train down the siding where his Bugatti is
parked. Then nobody will be killed ––but the train will destroy his Bugatti...Bob decides not to
throw the switch. The child is killed" (Singer 65– 67, 68–69). Although extreme, Singer uses a false
analogy and a hypothetical situation to

Persuasive Essay On Charity
As the world has now become aware, I, Amy Tan, have been blessed to have won 10 million
dollars from the Powerball lottery. Being blessed enough as is, I have decided this money would be
better off in the hands of trusting charities to help others and have taken the time to decide on the
following five charities that are dear to my heart. The following will receive an equal share of the
9.5 million; the Lyme Light Foundation, the AmericanBrain Tumor Association, the International
Women's Writing Guild, Anxiety Disorders Association of America, and the Body Positive.
Each organization has a special meaning to me, which is why I have decided to split the earnings
equally. All five organization's missions have an underlying meaning in my heart that has a lot to
do with the person I am today. Growing up, and even in my adult life I have struggled to find my
voice and be proud of the woman I am. Knowing there would be curious minds out there, I have
written this letter to explain the reasoning why these charities were chosen. The first charity I
decided on was the Lyme Light Foundation in Burlingame, CA. At the age of 49 I was diagnosed
with Lyme after years of circling through doctors trying to figure out what was wrong with me. It
took years for someone to finally give me the answer I needed; however, that answer came too late.
The disease has left me with neurological complications that left me prone to simple partial
seizures. For a while, the hope of being able to work

Nonprofit Charity
Nonprofit charities and foundations are essential in bringing people together for significant causes.
One of the most notable aspects of being a strong, well–rounded citizen comes through giving back
to communities. Through organizations such as soup kitchens, thrift stores, and hospitals, we can
put food in hungry bellies and hope in hungry hearts. Nonprofit attorneys play significant roles in the
success of many of these organizations. I am currently planning to pursue a career in law, which will
aid me in assisting nonprofit charities that require support in navigating complicated laws and
regulations. As a nonprofit attorney, I will guide private foundations in managing their assets and
running programs that abide with regulation laws.

Philanthropy Reflection
To me philanthropy is the helping of others and doing that is not for yourself. For an action to be
considered philanthropic it does not have to meet a certain amount of time or money that has to be
given. I have experienced, been apart of and want to continue philanthropic actions that help others
and better our world.
One of the first questions that I was asked when starting several of my college classes was what I
had done that was philanthropic. At first, I had no idea what philanthropy was, let alone know how
to pronounce the word. After learning what philanthropy meant I was unsure of anything I had
done that would be considered philanthropic. It made me feel like an awful person that I had not
been apart of any actions, that I knew of, that helped others. I was trying to think of big, major,
events I had done to benefit others that I looked right past the small actions I had completed which I
know meant a lot to someone else.
The biggest philanthropic action I have been apart of was in 2012 when I was given the
opportunity to go on a mission trip with my youth group that I was apart of at the time. I thought
that this would be a great experience for me to help others who were in need. For a week, through an
organization called Mission Serve, we traveled to Martinsburg, West Virginia. Starting from New
Paris, Indiana, we took a bus to Rochester to meet up with another youth group. From there we
started our journey to Martinsburg where we would then meet up with
