In 2008, director Andrew Stanton and a team of producers that included scientists created the film
Wall–E, a Waste Allocation Load Lifter–Earth class robot on planet Earth, which took us to seven
hundred years after humans had polluted the environment. The people on Earth wind up living in
space to escape the waste of planet. After seeing this movie over five times, and experiencing
waterborne illnesses, Wall–E is adorable and emotional, but the story itself opens our eyes and forces
us to become aware of water pollution in our environment. Waterpollution is a threat to humans,
ecosystems, and the environmental plants. Soon enough, our blue waters will be full of trash and
waste. After Wall–E gives a plant to Eve in the movie, Eve shuts down with a flashing green leaf
button on her stomach. Wall–E then takes Eve on a "date" while she is powered down in a boat
sludging through the muddy water. The water was just mud and garbage; you were not able to see
the actual water itself. Humans drink water, which comes from a deep well in the ground after it is
drilled, making it consumable. According to the Hollywood Water Plant Treatment Center,
"contaminated water causes diseases like Cholera, a diarrheal illness, Guinea Worm disease, Typhus,
and Dysentery." Representative Joe Barton of Texas stated that "exposure to pollution is not
associated with premature death," making respected health associations like the American Public

Solid waste such as tires, diapers and plastics are buried in landfills each year. It takes generations
for them to decompose. Today, there are laws that penalize manufacturing plants that dispose
hazardous wastes. These plants dump these hazardous materials in nearby woods or dump them into
streams (this practice was common fifty years ago). We need rain forests for survival. Rain forests
pump fresh oxygen into the atmosphere, protect soil from erosion and absorb carbon dioxide.
Rain forests cover 4.5 billion acres and accounts for 7 percent of the earth's land. The Amazon in
Brazil is the largest rain forest (2 million acres). The fate of today's rain forest is in trouble. A
process called deforestation is the leading problem. Deforestation is the process of cutting down
forests to use the land for farming and grazing cattle. Farmers "slash and burn" forest turning them

These laws cut deforestation in half. By 1994, the burning started again and in 1996 the burning

three majors' well–known types of pollution, which are land, water and air. The Bahamas has face
land pollution due to the Bahamian littering, water pollution due to the recent oil spills, and sewage,

When we talk about air or water pollution, the reactions garnered are stronger. This is because we
can see the effects caused by the pollutants and their extent very clearly. It is normal human
psychology to believe in what you see first hand. Our land on the other hand is living a nightmare
too. We may not be able to see the effects with clarity, but land is being polluted and abused
constantly and we are unable to calculate the damages incurred. Land Pollution has come to become
one of the serious concerns that we collectively battle.
Land pollution, in other words, means degradation or destruction of earth's surface and soil, directly
or indirectly as a result of human activities. Anthropogenic activities are conducted citing
development, and the same affects the land drastically, we witness land pollution; by drastic we are
referring to any activity that lessens the quality and/or productivity of the land as an ideal place for

percent. (Canadian Reference Center, 2013, para. 28). These damaging effects on the
environment do not only impact the forest alone but also cause properties to be destroyed and
lives to be taken away. Using hazardous substances in the soil is also an example of land
pollution because this can lead to soil contamination. Soil contamination occurs in a lot of
developing countries such as Ukraine, which has 8% of its land contaminated due to fertilizers in
the year 2014 (The Economist, 2017, para. 4). This soil contamination creates destruction to the
land that can be used for agriculture, where people get their source of food. One of the possible
effects of soil contamination is the loss of soil fertility. Some farmers use chemical fertilizers to
increase the plant growth, however, these only release toxins into the soil and reduce soil fertility
(Baker, 2017, para. 3). This action does not just affect the fertility of the soil, but it also has
consequences to the growth of population, number of deaths of humans and animals, which results

Land pollution is basically about contaminating the land surface of the earth through dumping urban
waste matter indiscriminately, dumping of industrial waste, mineral exploitation, and misusing the

because they are hazardous or useless are known as solid waste. Most of the solid wastes, like
paper, plastic containers, bottles, cans, and even used cars and electronic goods are not
biodegradable, which means they do not get broken down through inorganic or organic processes.
Thus, when they accumulate they pose a health threat to people, plus, decaying wastes also attract
household pests and result in urban areas becoming unhealthy, dirty, and unsightly places to reside

Although it is generally agreed that enormous quantities of solid waste are generated in Ibadan
daily, the exact figures have not been determined, probably owing to the use of diverse methods of
calculation. Maclaren International Ltd (1970) found that the average per capita quantity of solid
waste generated was 0.37–0.5 kg/day for the traditional areas of the city and 0.53 kg/day for the

newer areas. According to Egunjobi (1986), 38 million kg of solid waste was collected in the
suburbs of Ibadan in 1986. The suburbs constitute about 21% of the city. On this basis, it can be
estimated that 181 million kg of solid waste was generated in the city as a whole in 1986. This gives
a per capita waste–generation rate of 0.31 kg/day, using the 1986 estimated population of 1.6 million
for the city.

this problem. In many cases, your place of residence defines who you are as a person or in this
situation, as a community. I don't know too many people that would like to visit or even live in an
unsanitary environment. The land pollution that invades the streets of the small town could've been
prevented but is solvable with the work of a proposition. I would like to propose a plan to
improve the living conditions of my hometown. I suggest the residents of Waverly come together
to conduct a cleaning plan throughout the entire town. As a result, the locked potential could be
revealed and astonish the doubters. With the motivation and cooperation of the town's people, we
could limit the amount of pollution in the municipality of Waverly. The initial purpose of this

highest leading cause of death. Air and water pollution has been affecting the environment for
many years causing many diseases among people especially children. I will study and examine the
early childhood growth between two countries which are Australia and Tanzania. I will discuss how
