3. Chosen
Every year pimps recruit thousands of
young people (mostly girls) into
a life of prostitution.
They didn’t choose it. He chose them.
4. In order to understand the issue,
we have to understand the
victims.
They could be anybody’s
daughter, cousin, friend,
classmate or neighbor.
The victim could also be you.
Editor's Notes
Presenter Notes: Let’s talk about perceptions. A perception is how we see something. We form perceptions based on the information we are given, or the information we assume about someone or something. Sometimes our perceptions are right, and they can help keep us out of trouble – if we perceive there is danger. But, sometimes our perceptions are wrong, which can have the opposite result.-For example: Many people think that pimps are cool, that they have lots of money, nice cars, expensive clothes, fur coats, big jewelry, and are involved in the hip hop industry. We also tend to think that they have a lot of women in their life because they are just that cool. Our society has come to believe that the phrases “pimpin” or “pimped out” mean “to make something better, or cooler.” (Ex: Pimp that ride; It’s pimped out.) Your perception of a pimp is probably someone that isn’t scary or threatening. But….what if you’re wrong?
Presenter Notes: When someone is tricked or forced into performing sexual acts for money, food or shelter, we call that sex trafficking. The trafficker is the person in charge, the abuser. No kid wants to sell their body for sexual acts, but traffickers are very manipulative and know exactly how to convince the kid to do anything they want.
Presenter Notes: -You probably think that this could never happen to you, that no guy could ever convince your or your friends to sell your bodies for sex. Before you dismiss this as something that’s never going to happen to you, let’s hear the stories of two young girls who were chosen specifically to be groomed for a life in prostitution. See how the trafficker recruited them, manipulated them and brainwashed them into doing what he wanted them to do. Meet Brianna and Lacy. **Transition to the film**
