2. Why do I want a gunshot?
• One of the conventions of a thriller is to
include some action, things like fights, and
running, and weapons. Therefore, I wish to
have a gunshot sound play when the father
flicks the light switch and that is how the
parents are killed. And, in the end of the
teaser trailer we see Alex (one of the brothers)
holding a gun towards Carl, which adds
mystery and also suspicion.
3. What sort of gunshot noise do I want?
• I just want one single gun shot as I feel that this sounds
more effective, and for where I want the gunshot sound to
appear in the teaser trailer, it would be silly to have a
machine gun going off.
• The choice of gun needs to be realistic, something that a
normal person would be able to get their hands on,
therefore I also wouldn’t have an air rifle or a sniper as they
are not guns that are easy to hide nor ones that people
would just carry round.
• On top of that, I am also unlikely to choose a pistol as they
are the type of guns that were used back in the 40-60s, and
therefore would look to behind the times for my modern
thriller film.
5. Which one did I like most?
• My favourite gunshot sound from this
YouTube video is ‘#7 “007: The Living
Daylights” James Bond’s Walther PPK.
• This is because it was simple and sounded
most realistic compared to all the other
gunshot sounds in the video; also, James Bond
is a movie that may also appeal to the target
audience that I have.
