How does the font meet the expectations of your (16 – 25) audience. Please see the following
links to assist you in this.

Logo design 1 Logo design 1
Product design 1 Product design 2
3. Main image
Post the first draft sketch/ rough-cut photo-images of what you would like your advertisement to look like,
you may do this by using images from the internet or images you have taken to simulate what the final
advert will look like.
Annotate how the images (4 are required) meet the needs of your audience,
Use the advertising categories discussed in the lessons to help you to explain how you hope to
target your audience.

4. Audience research (to be started 23/03/2018)
Construct a survey using e.g. survey monkey. You will ask AT LEAST ask ten people to take part in the
survey.
In constructing the survey you will present the two skeleton layout designs
You will ask a series of questions to help you to select the best design/design layout.
You will need to identify from the audience what they preferred in terms of the two layout options,
choice of font/colours, etc. for your designs
Approximately ten questions should be asked,
Some of the questions will be standardized as you will need to ask the responds there age,
gender, etc.
Other questions will relate to the two designs that you have created for the advert include the
options that you had for font, font size, type, shoot location, colour, etc.
The survey should be targeted towards the target audience 16 – 25.
Whilst constructing you survey if you use a “closed question” such as: “Of the advertisement
examples shown which do you prefer?” You are advised to follow this with an open question
such as explain “what aspects of the design do you like?”
You will complete a Feedback section at the end of your audience research and summarise the
data collated using graphics or words and discuss how you will change the final layout as a
consequence.
Location reports. (to be completed by the 30/03/2018 BH)
You have a good idea for a shoot location or a number of separate locations as four separate images are
required.
You will photograph the location spots prior to the shoot and discuss how the location suits the
advertisement.
You will compile a brief risk assessment by answering the following : -
5. Shoot location
Add a description of the location and where possible add the location address if this is a public
space.
Discuss the equipment that you intend to use
Discuss whether any equipment that you will use might be a trip hazard, discuss what you will do
to avoid people (general public etc.) having an accident.
If the shoot location is on private property permission must be sought in advance, you will need to
have a e.mailed confirmation or a signed location release form this applies to home shoot
locations
Examples see below: -
Shoot option 1 Harlow town park Shoot option 2 Harlow town park
Shoot option 2 Harlow leisure centre Shoot option 2 Harlow leisure centre
Note: from the above prior permission MUST be gained for shoots in private locations an example above
might be the Leisure Centre. Evidenced of proof will include an e.mail correspondence or a signed
location release form. (please discuss with your tutor who will give you a location release template).
Casting, props and costume (to be started w.c. 09/04/2018)
Casting
You will add mug shots of the cast (models) involved in the advertisement
These shots should ideally be against a plain white background (could use the studio)
Props and costume
The props you use will include mock ups of the product, other props might include for example
mobile phones, etc.
The costume will include examples of the clothes that will be worn by the models/actors
6. Ideally in both cases visual photographs of the props you intend to use should be attached.
Examples see below: -
Final images and edits
Once the above is completed you will do your shoots before the (16/04/2018)
Please be aware that this is during the consolidation week, on your return to college you will create the
final adverts conforming to the set size dimensions for a full page spread within Total Film Magazine.
Final layout (to be started w.c. 10/04/2018)
You will create the 4 adverts based on the dimensions of a single page for (Total Film Magazine)
You are advised to show evidence of how the final design develops through using screen prints.
7. You will annotate the final designs with an explanation as to how the design meets the needs of your
audience, referring to the statement of intent that you produced earlier.
Final evaluation: (to be started w.c. 23/04/2018)
Place your image within Power point
Create at least four slides with the image inside.
Annotate the final design with comments linked to the statement of intent where you will tackle the four
aspects of the OCR Media Framework.
For each page discuss how the advert conforms to
[media language: how the media through their forms, codes, conventions and techniques
communicate meanings]
[media representations: how the media portray events, issues, individuals and social groups]
[media industries: how the media industries’ processes of production, distribution and
circulation affect media forms and platforms]
media audiences: how media forms target, reach and address audiences, how audiences
interpret and respond to them and how members of audiences become producers
themselves.
