2. REQUIREMENTS
Initially we will be feeding two people in the
household with extra for my extended
family who live close by.
I would like a diverse selection for fresh
vegetables, canning and root vegetables
for winter storage.
My goal for volume is to have an average
of three servings each for my girlfriend and
myself a day though-out the year

number of servings per
person every day and week.
This gave me a better idea
of how often I will consume
these food so I can better
estimate a total volume per
vegetable/fruit. As showing
in the table to the left my
goal of 3 servings a day per
household member was met

5. GARDEN SIZE AND PLACING
Garden additions
Rows,
mulching area
water tank
sorting table
fencing
irrigation
room for expansion.
Subtractions
Apple, Pear and cherry
orchards will be located
separate from the
garden to allow for more
accessibility, room for
growth and elimate
shading of other crops.
Potato patch will also be
separate to allow better
access for the tractor
and potato digger during
harvest.
6. CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
Challenges
TIME!!!!
Setup and maintenance
will be my biggest
challenge. Along with the
other construction
projects I will have on the
property (including the
house) I hope my
girlfriend and I will be able
to do all the necessary
work that will sustain a
health garden.
Opportunities
I plan to live on the
property for a great
number of years so I do
not have long range time
restraints
I have the necessary
land area and water
supply to support this
garden
I possess tools and
equipment to manage
this size garden
7. PERMACULTURE PRINCIPLE
The quote that stuck with me from the text
was “ It is estimated that humans have used 100,
000 plants for food, medicine, fiber, dye, fuel and
weaponry, yet today only 20 plant species make up
90% of the human diet.” Bane p.38)
My garden is designed with the ideals of “Cultivate
Diversity” (Bane p.38) with a wide selection of
different vegetable species and varieties,.
