Weebly main task blog
1. Introduction
So basically, we were asked to create a news bulletin for our timeslot of 7am-9am for the schools
and colleges strand on Oldham Community Radio. It has to be between 4:30 and 5:30 minutes long,
and must include a hard, soft and off the wall or sport news story. The bulletin has to be appropriate
for the target audience and the time slot in order for us to gain the mark.
Main Brief
VIDEO
Above is our first draft of creating a webcam entry explaining our main brief. It took us around 6
tries before we finally got the video perfect - it would've been finished sooner, but Tayla plugged the
microphone into the wrong port so we had to redo the video with the giggles.

This is our final main draft webcam entry, which we were actually able to finish without getting the
giggles. Our main task brief has to include a news bulletin between 4:30 and 5:30 minutes long, and
should have a hard, soft and off the wall/sports news story. We must also ensure that it is suitable
for broadcast on a weekday morning for the schools and colleges strand (7-9am) and make it
suitable for our target audience.
Group Review and Targets
Our group has changed this time round as I have switched groups to work with Ben Ck and Tayla
Adams when their third group member, Hannah Morrow left Media to pursue other things. Our
targets for this group were to keep on top of everything and manage our time better than we did on
the prelim blog; the prelim blog wasn't managed very well for me personally due to personal issues
but I feel that I have produced more work on this task that I can put on my blog as evidence.
Research into Similar Products
We did several different research methods for research into similar products; we looked at news
conventions, Oldham Community Radio, news construction, and news stories.
News Conventions
This area of research involved looking at what news is, and analysing the host station and other
stations to look at their news stories and see the similarities in their bulletins.
