TNT – A Sustainable Approach
TNT places sustainability at the heart of our customer operations and our ways of working.
An excellent example of how this approach has been put into practice since TNT were
presented
with the DWP Sustainability award in May 2013 would be our support of the AGILITY project:
Our involvement in this strategic initiative has enabled the following:
• Incorporation of an additional 2.5m non tracked mail pouches per year into the Dedicated
Courier Network with zero increase in network charges
• Single delivery of both internal and customer mail to DWP offices which realises the
following benefits:
• Lowering of carbon emissions through a reduction in the number of vehicles required to provide services
• Optimum use of the existing network
• Resource efficiencies across the entire document handling chain
• Improved governance and compliance
This three way collaboration serves as testimony to our commitment to work as
‘One Team’.

TNT & DWP – Working as ‘One Team’
TNT and DWP have a proven track record in collaborative working and the
benefits of this approach have been realised many times throughout the
course of the relationship.
The current contract between the Department and TNT came into effect on the 1st
January 2013.
Both parties immediately realised the opportunity to further develop the relationship through the
Strategic Supplier Relationship Management model (SSRM).
The purpose of SSRM is to:
• Further develop collaborative working to meet the challenges that lie ahead
• Support delivery of the Department’s strategic objectives
• Jointly measure the relationship
In order to achieve this it was important that:
• TNT remained aligned to DWP’s strategic objectives
• DWP understood TNT’s corporate objectives
The SSRM initiative was jointly launched at an inaugural workshop on 31st
March 2013.

TNT & DWP – Working as ‘One Team’
The engagement of both parties through the SSRM proved to be highly effective and resulted in
the creation of three distinct workstreams:
• Workstream 1 – Knowledge Sharing and Communication
• Workstream 2 – Value Creating Opportunities
• Workstream 3 – Security and Operational Delivery Forums
The workstreams continue to this day and to date have enabled:
• The delivery of improved operational processes
• The implementation of a number of strategic Departmental projects
• Cost savings of £700k (realised in year one)
The SSRM philosophy is now embedded as a ‘BAU’ way of working to provide sustainable
platform for collaboration, engagement and value creation.
