Writing Leadership Across the Curriculum, we will
• Explore the advantages of writing workshop in all content areas.
• Focus on workshop structure as well as pre-writing, revision, editing
strategies, and writing assessment.
• Demonstrate writing-to-learn strategies that support student understanding
without increasing teaching workload.
• Explore ways to motivate students to become better and more powerful
writers.
• Demonstrate, for each other, the benefits of writing workshop and writing-tolearn
strategies in order to support other teachers.
• Work with your team, or individually, to develop an Action Plan to help other
teachers realize the benefits of writing-to-learn and writing workshop.

WHO: Teachers in all grades K-12, all content areas.
Teachers may apply individually or in a team.
A team could be two or more teachers/administrators from one site.

FEES AND CREDIT: This is an invitational Institute. Selected applicants have the option
of participating in the Institute for credit or non credit.
Earn an optional 3-6 graduate education credits from Carroll University.
A grant from the National Writing Project allows for scholarships resulting
in reduced credit cost of ½ price tuition fee per credit.
REGISTRATION: Complete and return an application form by March 31, 2011.
Selected applicants will be notified by mid April. Selected applicants have the
option of participating in the Institute for 3-6 credits or no credit.

Included in tuitions and registrations for non-credit participants: MAM daily entrance fees, coffee,
books, materials, breakfast snacks and MAM café box lunch on our first day – June 28.
