Oral Health is important to prevent many disease.
Oral Hygiene is necessary to maintain to prevent growth of many bacteria
like F. nucleatum and Porphyromonas gingivalis are risk factor for developing
Liver and Pancreatic Cancer.
2. • Liver and Pancreatic Cancers are a
worldwide public health issue.
• Evidence has suggested that poor oral
health is linked to the development of
liver / pancreatic cancers, as a resultant
of smoking, alcohol consumption and
poor nutrition.
4. • One theory explains the potential role
of the oral and gut microbiome in
disease development is that
Fusobacterium nucleatum, a bacteria
originating in the oral cavity can play a
role in development of liver cancer.
• Although studies are being conducted
investigating its role in liver cancer.
5. • Another theory for liver cancer states
that poor oral health, high number of
missing teeth is directly linked with
alteration in diet, preference of soft diet
leading to consumption of less
nutritious food, all of it influencing the
risk of liver cancer.
7. • Talking about Pancreatic Cancer, there
have been studies reporting antibody
levels for a periodontal bacteria
(Porphyromonas gingivalis), associated
with a two-fold risk for pancreatic
cancer.
8. • The biological basis by which studies
suggest that poor oral health may be
more strongly associated with liver
cancer, as of now is not certain, still
maintaining good oral health is a key
aspect of living a longer and happier life.
• Never take your oral health for
granted.
10. • Brush your teeth twice a day. Brush right before you
go to bed and at least one other time during the day.
• Use a fluoride toothpaste, and spit after brushing
instead of rinsing.
• Look for a small- to medium-sized brush head and
with soft to medium bristles. You can also go for an
electric toothbrush.
11. • Floss daily- Floss at least once a day with a
gentle rocking motion between the teeth.
• At the gumline, curve the floss into a C-shape
around each tooth and gently scrape up the
side of the tooth.
12.
13. • Eat well - Try to avoid consuming sugary
foods and drinks frequently throughout the
day.
• The longer these sugar acids remain on your
teeth, the more time they have to do their
damage.
14. • Go to the dentist - Going to the dentist is
important because if the plaque on your
teeth hardens into tartar, it can no longer be
removed by simple brushing—only a dentist
can help you remove it during a cleaning.
• If you let tartar continue to build up, it can
lead to inflammation, pain and gum disease.
