1. Things You Can Do Today to Decrease Your Headaches
Stretch Frequently
If you spend a lot of time at work hunched in front of a computer, take a break every 30 minutes
to stretch. Try rotating your neck and arms through a complete range of motion several times. It
is also important to take breaks to get your eyes off the computer screen. Eyestrain is one of the
leading causes of headaches.
Exercise
Low-impact exercises may help relieve the pain associated with primary headaches.
Avoid Clenching Your Teeth
The upper teeth should never touch the lower teeth except when swallowing. This results in
stress at the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), the joint in front of your ear. When these two joints
in the jaw are tense, the irritation can lead to tension headaches.
Drink More Water
Water is your body’s principal chemical component, therefore, it’s very important to keep
hydrated drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Dehydration is a key cause of headaches.
Avoid Caffeine
Food such as chocolate, cocoa and sodas contain high levels of the stimulant, which can be the
cause of headache pain.
Avoid High Amounts of Sugar
Foods that contain high amounts of sugar have been found to cause migraines.
Avoid Alcohol
Drinking alcoholic beverages can cause dehydration and therefore cause headaches. Limiting
your intake will greatly keep headaches at bay.
