What happened in this exercise? Basically what happened is students head to step
forward or back if the question related to us and in front of us is a sidewalk that stands for
successful and if you make it them then you will be successful in life. As the exercise continue
throughout the 30 questions at the end of it the exercise the people who made it to the side
walk where all white.
The exercise made feel like the people who made it to the sidewalk they all had easy for
them in life and they didn’t have to grow up in the struggle while the people such as myself
who didn’t make to the sidewalk know how it feels to be in the struggle and have to work hard
to get what they want. The exercise also made me feel disrespected just because the people
who made it to the sidewalk are going to be guaranteed success and the people who didn’t
make to the sidewalk are going to be guaranteed failures. Which both is not true because there
is going to be somebody who made it to the sidewalk who is not going to be successful in life
and there is going to be somebody who didn’t make it to the sidewalk who is going to be
successful.
My thoughts during the exercise was the people who was taking steps forwards had it
made for them and that they grew up with two parents in their household but me I just grew up
with one parent which was my mother. Growing up and having a single parent in your life was
hard on me and also hard on my mother because I couldn’t get everything I wanted and my
mother also had to make sacrifice for me just to provide for me and they didn’t have to
experience that.
I’ve learned that people grow up and not have to struggle and basically are told they are
going to be successful just off their family and also learned that people didn’t have it that way
and you always have to be thankful for how far you came if growing up in the struggle.
I can take this information and prove it wrong. Because no questions is going to
determine whether I’m going to be successful or not. So my goal is to prove this exercise wrong
and make it to the sidewalk just like the people who already had it made for them.
