1. Strengthsquest
After taking the Strengthsquest quiz, I have noticed that I do have strengths that I didn’t
even know of. When looking at my strengths, they all made a lot of sense to me. In my opinion,
together they describe someone who is easygoing, a leader and stable minded, all of which I
believe describes myself. I know that taking this quiz helped me get a better understanding of
who I am and that some of the things I have been ridiculed for. I think that everyone should
have to take this quiz at least once in their life because it really does show what strengths one
has. The Strengthsquest seemed to be just some quiz I am obligated to take and it ended up
being a really good learning experience about myself, but it also helps with groups in both
learning and working environments.
When I started my quiz I did not think that the themes would be anything like me
because of the questions. After I was finished with the quiz and I received my results I agreed
with them each so much. There was very little that I disagreed with when looking at my
strengths. I was very taken back by how much they described me to a tee. The one that best
described me was belief. I am very strong grounded on what I believe. Many people try to
change my mind and I will gladly listen to them but I will not change my mind. I have no
empathy towards people who get caught for doing things that are obviously wrong, this was a
major part I agreed with in the belief description. The one I found I most disagreed with was
command. I thought it came off bossy but at the same time it was someone who knows how to
take control. I am definetly one who takes control but only when needed or asked to. I would not
describe myself as commanding before taking the quiz. Now, I would say I am commanding due
to now seeing it as a strength of mine.
An example of belief in my life would be my morals and religious beliefs. I have always
known what I believe and do not believe in. I attended a Catholic school where one learns about
the “right stuff” about God. I believe in God, but I don’t believe all of the teachings of the
Catholic church such as: gay rights, birth control, and symbolism of the Body of Christ. I know
2. that I believe if one is gay they have rights to be with someone because they can still love no
matter what. I believe that we should be able to take birth control and I believe the Body of
Christ is symbolic. For having these beliefs, I have gotten in a lot of trouble with teachers but I
would rather take a detention then not stand up for what I believe. My parents and boyfriend
both believe that this one describes me the most.
This is hard to have at times because many people could be offended or even get mad about
how I feel about certain things. This also can be hard when it comes to school because in order
for me to state and stand by my beliefs I often time could get into a lot of trouble. When looking
at it in relationships it is extremely hard because people don’t have the same beliefs and that
causes conflict. It is very hard to keep relationships with people who have counter beliefs as
myself because I will not change what I believe even if they want me to.
Another strength of mine is ideation. I see this in many ways in my daily life as well. I
always like coming up with ideas and new ways to view things. Someone could easily tell this
about me by simply sitting at my desk because I have a 3-ring binder on my desk that is full of
new ideas that I want to pursue and make possible to the world. I know that my ideas could help
make a change and that is what I strive for. Also with ideation, realizing how people see one is a
big part of it. I would say this is very true with me. I always know if someone is mad or doesn’t
like me and I can read people extremely well. This is a blessing and a curse. Sometimes it is
nice to not know what someone may think of me or to not notice harsh looks but, at the same
time, it is nice to be able to know who I should stay away from.
Ideation helps me a lot with academics solely because I can come up with ideas and
help the group or myself get a better grade. A lot of the time I don’t like to have a tight deadline
because I like to give myself more time to come up with something great and new. In
relationships, I have noticed that ideation is good to have. I can always come up with something
new to do and have fun with. People love that aspect of me because they know that I will always
have something for us to do.
3. My third strength I would like to share is the strategic strength. This shows that I am able
to find different routes if I run into a problem. This one would be able to see in my daily life as
well. I am very good about always having more than one plan and I always make sure that it will
be good for everyone. When friends and I go out many times the first plan falls flat and we want
to do something else. They all know right away to look my way because I have other things we
can go do.
This helps me out in academics a lot because of groups projects. When doing a group project I
can be very thorough because if something does not work I simply bring out plan B. In
relationships, I have found that this benefits me. I and my boyfriend fight and we try to work the
problem out one way but it didn’t work so we sat down and talked about it again and I threw out
another way to go about fixing the problem. This may not be fun for him since there is more
ways to fix it and he wants me to let it go, but it will benefit us in the long run.
Strengthsquest has helped me improve how I see others and how I view myself. I have a new
found confidence in who I am and why I am the way I am. I know that my strengths have helped
me become a strong young woman and that they will help me be successful in both academics
and in personal relationships. Everyone should have take Strengthsquest to show how amazing
their strengths make them.
