1. About Your
Instructor
Kathleen Cercone PT, PhD

2. • Hello all!
I am so happy to see
you all here and am
ready for our new
term to start! It is
always exciting to
start on a new
learning journey and
I hope that you
enjoy this class!!I

3. • I went to Columbia University in
NYC and became a licensed
Physical Therapist(PT) - I practiced
in all different settings. In 1991 I
got my masters in Exercise
physiology and then in 1994
started to teach at a community
college in a program for PT
Assistants- which is an Associates
Degree program and they work
under the direction of a PT.

4. • My last degree, the PhD I got from Capella
University and it is in Education.
• I became a Professor in the PTA
program and was the clinical
coordinator in 1997. I then had a
serious fall 8/19/2001 and fractured
my ankle which was so severe, that I
had major surgery multiple times.
• Being home I realized that I needed
to branch out and started my PhD at
Capella Univ. in Instructional Design
for Online Learning- all online.
• That is when I realized I loved online
learning and I branched out into
helping other faculty start teaching
online.

5. • I have taught Kinesiology, Human
Pathophysiology, Anatomy & Physiology
as well as Biology
• and other science classes! I taught here
• SC121, SC250, SC300, SC236, SC235 and
SC115 here at Kaplan, then
PurdueGlobal.
I have been
teaching here for
over 13 years and
love the school,
people and
students.

6. • I also am here if you need anything. Please let

Kaylena. She is 26
months oldl!!!
• She is sick and has
been in the
hospital since
3/30/20. People
are donating and
have made things
with
#KaylenaStrong on
them- as you see
in the ribbon.

9. • Here you see my Husband, Daughter
(Alyssa) and her daughter Kaylena last
summer.
• I have been married many years. He
retired on 12/31/19

10. • This is my wonderful Grandson
Owen and he is 3 ½ . He is a
ball of energy and he keeps us
very busy.
• He is in preschool now.

11. • My son is a teacher at a High School,
and he won an award for Teacher of
the Year in Ct.
• During this Pandemic, he made masks with a
peer and his high school students using a 3D
printer.
• Melissa, my daughter-in-law, is a
Graphic Designer and just started her
own business.

12. My family means a lot to me.
I am excited to start our journey in
SC121!!!!! I love teaching this material and
hope to do the best I can for all of you.
