Rules and Guidelines for
Kaushalya – The art within
an opportunity to show how creative your brain is………
This will challenge your ability to see and convey the "big picture"; testing the
participants on their cumulative knowledge in many fields, including Ayurveda,
Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Pharmacy as well as teamwork, creativity,
leadership, communication and presentation skills.
COMPETITION FORMAT
1. The competition is based on knowledge addition and creativity.
2. The topic given to the team on the first day evening (November 23, 2012) of the
Workshop at the time of registration.
3. The team will submit the report on the next day (November 24, 2012) evening by 06:00
pm and based on the quality of analysis teams will be shortlisted for final presentations.
ELIGIBILITY
1. The competition is open to all delegates.
2. Maximum 5 members per team.
3. TWO teams from each institution.
4. A team should comprise of THREE members belonging to same University/
Institute/College.

For Poster Presentation, Shlok, Quiz and Photography Competition:

7. Step 2 -Submission of written report or synopsis: November 24, 2012 evening by 06:00 pm

Step 4 -Presentation of shortlisted candidates/teams: November 25, 2012
RULES
1. Each team makes its presentation in English.
2. Each Team has up to 15 minutes to convince their audience and judges including Q&A.
3. Presentation order is determined arbitrarily prior to the Competition.
4. The teams are not permitted to work upon their presentation during the competition.
5. Each member of a team is required to participate in the team’s presentation but not
necessarily in the question period following the presentation.
Guidelines for PowerPoint Presentations
1. All presentations must be in Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP format.
2. Sound effects are not allowed in the presentation.
3. In the case of technical difficulties, each team is allowed to bring printouts of their slide
show to give to judges if the laptop or projection fails.
4. Ten minutes will be allotted to fix any technical or equipment problems after which the
teams must use their handouts.
5. Moreover the presentation should be informative, innovative and creative.
Topics for the PPT Presentations:
1. Nanotechnology in Ayurveda
2. Ayurveda informatics
3. Standardization techniques of herbs and final products
4. Biotechnology in Ayurveda
Candidate / Team should send the CMPLETE presentation in .ppt format or in .pdf
format before the last date of registration
No synopsis will be accepted
Guidelines for Team Presentations
1. The time limit for the presentation is 15 minutes followed by 10 minutes of Q&A by the
judges.
2. All team members are required to be present during the presentation and must speak
during the presentation.
3. Hand outs are not allowed for making presentation.
4. Content of PowerPoint presentation must not be different from the written report
submitted.
5. Presenters must be dressed in business attire.
Guidelines for Poster Presentations (Spot Entry)
1. Students (U.G, P.G), Interns, Physicians and Scholars from research Organizations are
eligible for this competition.
2. A chart paper of 3x2 ft size and a set of sketch pens are provided by the organizers.
3. Alternately candidates can design their poster on the laptops and save it to .jpeg image.
The image will be displayed on screen. ( Note: candidate should bring their own laptops)
4. The title of poster should be in capital and bold, followed by names of candidates and
their Institutes.
5. The posters should be self explanatory, informative and creative.
6. Each poster team can comprise of 3 students or less.
7. Each team will be given 5 minutes to present their poster.

8. Guidelines for “Life is Beautiful” Photography Competition (Spot Entry)
1. Students (U.G, P.G), Interns, Physicians and Scholars from research Organizations are
eligible for this competition.
2. Photography during the period of Dravya Guna Trek, Visit to Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth,
Visit to Gurukulam Gardens and during medicine Preparation on 1st and 2nd days of the
workshop will only be accepted.
3. Candidate should bring his/her own camera
4. Only one entry is allowed per photographer.
5. A caption must be given for the photograph.
6. Entries must be in digital format only.
7. No prints are required. Candidates can submit their photographs in .jpeg image format.
The image will be displayed on screen. ( Note: candidate should bring their own laptops)
8. Only basic photo manipulation is allowed, i.e., cropping, burning/dodging,
brightness/contrast correction, using “vibrance” and “exposure” on Photoshop or similar
actions in other post processing software. Editing performed with in-camera settings prior
to taking the photo is also acceptable but must be specified by the entrant on the entry
form. Color shifting, high dynamic range (HDR) images, stitched panoramas, and
composite photos are NOT acceptable. An image created digitally through the use of
computer software is also not acceptable. Any changes to the original photograph not
itemized here are unacceptable and will disqualify the entry.
