INTRODUCTION
 Bleeding distal to the ligament of Treitz.
 One of the most common symptoms to be
encountered in the out patients department.
 About 20% as common as the upper GI bleeding.
 Most often the colon is involved. Small intestine
involved in only 5% of cases.
 Male predominance.
 Incidence increases with age of the patient.
