SUMMARY TABLE (with Overview): This Table compares "Traditional
publishing" (paper and online) with a new method of Posting Review Articles on
Individual WebSites. The Articles are created by a community of like-minded scholars
who are focusing on a small "slice" of information in their speciality. These Articles,
called "WebCompendia", involve several paradigm shifts: 1) An easy-to-navigate,
intuitive presentation using an ExpandingOutline-Format; 2) An improved method of
Linking via the Internet, called the ForwardLink-Protocol, which links at the "idea" level
(sentence-to-sentence) and presents the Reader with Metadata about the Link in a
useful way (in a Sortable Table); 3) Creation on a highly-moderated Blog (not a Wiki)
which evolves as new knowledge is created (all links remaining active); 4) Online
Archives that use the ForwardLink-Protocol will gain value over time, rather than losing
value; 5) Creation of WebCompendia WebSites is made easier than building a usual
WebSite by means of free, OpenSource software that is easy to use (developed under a
grant from the National Library of Medicine).

Summary tablej

  • 1. SUMMARY TABLE (with Overview): This Table compares "Traditional publishing" (paper and online) with a new method of Posting Review Articles on Individual WebSites. The Articles are created by a community of like-minded scholars who are focusing on a small "slice" of information in their speciality. These Articles, called "WebCompendia", involve several paradigm shifts: 1) An easy-to-navigate, intuitive presentation using an ExpandingOutline-Format; 2) An improved method of Linking via the Internet, called the ForwardLink-Protocol, which links at the "idea" level (sentence-to-sentence) and presents the Reader with Metadata about the Link in a useful way (in a Sortable Table); 3) Creation on a highly-moderated Blog (not a Wiki) which evolves as new knowledge is created (all links remaining active); 4) Online Archives that use the ForwardLink-Protocol will gain value over time, rather than losing value; 5) Creation of WebCompendia WebSites is made easier than building a usual WebSite by means of free, OpenSource software that is easy to use (developed under a grant from the National Library of Medicine). --- DIFFERENT WAYS TO PUBLISH A REVIEW ARTICLE --- Individual, Author-created Paper- Online WebSite: based Journal; WebCompendia using the Journal; Author ExpandingOutline-Format, Reader pays and using ForwardLinks with pays SortableTable-Metadata Paradigm Yes: both WebCompendia & No No shift?
