The American Revolutionary War was caused by the political disagreements between Great Britain
and the American colonies. Most of the Americans initially didn't want to completely separate from
England but wanted to regain the rights that Parliament had taken away from them. England made

direct attempt to raise money without the consent of the colonial assemblies. The colonists felt that
they were being taxed without representation. With great anger, colonists refused to allow the tax
stamps to be sold. Merchants even agreed not to order British goods until the act was abolished.

stated that the right of taxation belongs only to the people and their elected representatives. Also,

that lead to the start to the American Revolution. The colonists believed that they should live

The biggest problem after the war was the long effect that it had on the American Colonies. The
war had cost lots of money and the British looked to the colonies to help pay for the cost of the war.
This even began a long spiral of events that led to the American Revolution.
The British had sent more than 10,000 troops to North America by the end of the French and
Indian War. The British felt like they had spent a great deal of money in protecting the American
colonists. They were in debt around 140 million pounds. To pay off all of their debt the British
decided to increase the enforcement of existing taxes on the Colonists and impose additional taxes.

sent a number of soldiers to the custom house to maintain order. After a few seconds the sight of

not have sparked such a massive rebellion in the nation, but as the problems of the colonies
cumulated, their collective impact spilt over and the American Revolution ensued. Many say that

The British military also played a role in starting the revolution. As Britain began to call more and
more troops into the colonies, especially after the seven years war, many of the citizens began to
doubt their purpose. The British justified stationing troops by saying that it was to cut expenditures.
Yes it did cut expenditures, but to the dismay of the colonists, the burden of housing soldiers, due to
the Quartering act of 1765, was laid upon them. This caused great dissent, for as the population of
Boston was only approximately 18,000, the troops made up more than one fifth of the population.

The Patriots would cover the tax collectors in hot, sticky tar and feathers. It would burn the tax
collector and they would be black for days. The Americans thought that taxing them was unfair as
they had helped the British win the war and they did not deserve to be taxed. The thirteen colonies

The war provided Great Britain territorial gains in North America. Other than helping with the war,
the British were also stationed in the colonies for protection after the war.The French and Indian War
resulted from ongoing frontier tensions in North America. French and British imperial officials and
colonists were going to extend each country's sphere of influence in frontier regions. At the end of
the war the British Parliament decided to tax American Colonies to help pay for the British troops

It is often said that the causes of a war are often found in the results of past conflicts. The American
Revolution was in fact part of a larger Global conflict. Also, earlier conflicts between the
antagonists, Great Britain and France, led to our independence. Foregoing acts of colonial rebellion
in America allowed for Americans to unite with the idea of rebellion. TheAmerican Revolution was
a large conflict that occurred between American colonists and the British. Therefore, the American
Revolution was part of a greater global conflict. Clearly, the American Revolution was a large
component of a greater Global conflict and earlier conflicts between the rivals, Great Britain and

It may have begun with the French and Indian war, but it was definitely reinforced with the lack of
respect it was getting from Britain. According to History.com, "many colonists... resented their lack
of representation in Parliament and demanded the same rights as other British subjects". Meaning,
Britain wasn't treating Americans equally, which caused them to become extremely irritated. For
example, after Parliament introduced taxes among the colonies, many Americans protested. This
proceeded to repeatedly happen. The breaking point for most colonists was after the Intolerable or
Coercive Acts were put into play. This act was designed to show colonists that Britain was the
dominating power after the colonists had shown defiance at the Boston Tea Party. In contrast to the
plan Britain had for America, colonists were able to bond over their shared anger towards their
unfair treatment and policies. Basically, the colonists wanted to get rid of taxation without
representation in the Parliament and unfair policies that overall were not beneficial towards them.
Clearly, a revolution was sprouted from unfair treatment and resentment towards the British
