Essay On Citizen Kane
This film was directed by Benjamin Ross in 1999. The film is about a movie that was released about
sixty years before this production. It is odd to me that in those sixty years, no one had chosen to
create this film until Ross thought about it. It is weird to see a movie about another movie. It is
obvious that a recreation is never the same than the original work, but I feel like this movie truly
demonstrated some of the aspects and difficulties that Orson Welles experienced for his film,
"Citizen Kane." If I were Orson and had gone through these many hardships for a movie, I probably
would have given up. Orson's determination was greatly shown through this movie. Although it is
ranked as one of the worst movies due to its camera work and imaging, I think it did a great job in
visualising Orson's dreams. It is strange that Orson decided to create a movie based on a man who
simply "offended" him. I also find it admiring that he decided to go after a man who was much
"larger and important" in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"RKO 281" shows us that he destroyed many cameras and even broke through the wooden floor in
order to get the perfect angle to shoot his scenes. There were many people, who were either on
William Randolph Hearst's side or did not want to engage in any serious matters with him, who
attempted to stop Orson's film from ever being seen. I think that it is somewhat "invasion of
privacy" that Orson created this movie based on a man's life, but I do not find it illegal because
Hearst was a public figure. This film was very successful and although I have not seen it, so I can
not state my opinions on it, it is ranked as number one on the Best 100 Films. To be ranked number
one in anything positive, is extremely admirable. Having a movie ranked number one is even better
because, as we saw in "RKO 281," directing and acting in a movie simultaneously, as Orson did,
must be a difficult

I Am Legend: Book Vs Movie
When a book is made into a movie, everyone has contrasting opinions as to which was superior.
Although, more times than not, you will hear that the book was better. I've heard it a million times;
you've heard it a million times. In the case of I am Legend, however, the two are so drastically
different that it is difficult to even compare them. In the book, there are vampires attempting to lead
Robert Neville to his inevitable doom, while in the movie there are zombies. Neville is living in a
suburban town in the book, while the movie takes place in New York City. One of the most
noticeable differences, nevertheless, is that Robert Neville is "born of English–German decent" in
the book, while Will Smith plays the character in the movie (14). ... Show more content on

Nevertheless, Francis Lawrence did not need to cast the role of Robert Neville as a believable
character because the entirety of the movie already possessed such great verisimilitude. In most
mainstream movies, if a character is black they usually possess some type of black stereotype. In "I
Am Legend" race is only mentioned in a positive light. When changing Robert Neville to a black
character, Lawrence also added Neville's love for Bob Marley. While there is no mention of Bob
Marley in the book, throughout the movie Neville is seen listening to Bob Marley's songs. He even
mentions how him and his wife named their daughter Marley after Bob Marley. When sharing this
passion with his new friend, Anna, Neville noted how he loved listening to Bob Marley's music
because Bob Marley believed "that you could cure racism and hate, literally cure it, by injecting
music and love into people's lives". Neville listened to Bob Marley's music to cure his fear from the
zombies, but this is definitely symbolic for black people listening to Bob Marley to cure racism and
hate. Francis Lawrence casted Will Smith as the lead, and added this love for Bob Marley, so for
once there could be a movie with a black hero. No black stereotypes; only a really good movie with

Blaxploitation In Peter Bergs Hancock: An African American...
Post apocalyptic movie is a movie that set in a world or civilization after a disaster. It is a sub–genre
of speculative fiction that is concerned with the collapse of civilization through various disasters
such as nuclear war, plague, energy shortages, flood, earthquake, or political conflict (Moon 1).
There are Movies such as 2012, Resident Evil, Doomsday, Children of Men, 28 Days Later and the
adaptations of The Road, I Am Legend, and The Hunger Games have all had some degree of success
in recent years (Miller 52). The Book of Eli movie shows the fragility of human civilization with
violence and inhuman condition. Therefore, Eli takes a journey to spread the wise words from Bible
in order to civilize people. This study focus on the stages of Journey that African American man has
taken, not the event of Post apocalypse.
Another post apocalyptic movie that led by African American is I am Legend, starred by Will Smith.
The story is pretty much the same, the leading roles face problem in new situation and they later
become hero. However, in I am Legend the hero that is African American cannot be considered as

I Am David Book Vs Movie
I always thought that the books were always better than the movie based of the book. But, after
watching I am David, I thought differently. The movie brought more emotion, more suspense, and it
kept the story flowing better than the book did. To begin, the movie brought more emotion to the
story. These emotion that the book lacked were portrayed in the movie. Some of these included
when David realizes that his mother is alive, when he talks with Sophie, and the actors in general.
The actor for David(add actors name) brought more emotion the way he looked and acted. This
couldn't be told by the book with words as well as the movie. The actor for Honnas(Add actors
name) added to the emotions the way he responded what was happening around him at what he was
thinking. The book lacked this because they couldn't show what Honnas looked like and his
emotions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie created the suspense that the book lacked. This suspense was created with the flashbacks
so we could understand what David was remembering and thinking of. The flashbacks created
suspense throughout the movie, but especially in a few parts. One of these parts is when David
realizes that Honnas sacrificed himself for david because David stole the soap. Another part more
suspense is created is when David is in the church and sees the guard, and realizes that the man had
to shoot any one with the soap. But once the man sees that David has the soap he doesn't want to
shoot David and signals to Honnas who takes the soap. Even though the man doesn't want to shoot
Honnas because he was David's friend, he had to or he might have lost his job and be

Shower: Little Abou Life Is Beautiful
Film's title "Evil" raise my interest. When I went on to the imdb.com, I got to know the film is about
a bunch of students' life at a private school. The senior students there are in charge of students at
lower level. Erik, the leading man, has to transfer from another school to the private school because
of fighting. However, Erik doesn't listen to the senior students' order. The storyline of the film makes
me feel like I am not interested in the topic of violence at school. Bill Thompson said he enjoyed the
film, because " I cheered when the movie wanted me to cheer, was disgusted when it wanted me to
be disgusted and so on". In terms of the theme of the film, he indicated that "I have to give credit to
the actors and the writing, because otherwise I found Ondskan to be a very ordinary film, the type
you would normally see from a workman like director." It sounds like the screenwriting of the film
is good. Therefore, maybe I will get a chane to watch the film.

I watched the trailer of the movie and the leading man's performance really catches my eyes. He is
humorous and romantic. The film won three three Oscars, including Best Actor in a Leading Role,
Best Music, Original Dramatic Score, and Best Foreign Language Film. The was a fun fact that the
leading actor Roberto Benigni had been married to the leading actress Nicoletta Braschi, his real
wife, since 1991 before they shot the movie. The leading man has a gift of comedy which he uses to
protect his son when they are in death camp. The film is, Roger Ebert said, " about the human spirit.

I Am Number Four: Comparing The Movie And The Book
First off, I Am Number Four was way different in the book than in the movie, but here are some
similarities. They both had a Halloween fair, which led to John being attacked. Also showing his
amazing powers he contains. They Walk Among Us (The Magazine) provided the story of the
Mogodoriens chasing the other numbers and John. Marks dad is a cop which makes John take it
easy with Mark, for his dad to be suspicious. Sarah and John go to the school then the Mogodoriens
start coming, which is a major scene in this movie. John and Henri moved to Paradise, Ohio, and it
is where all the characters meet, but obviously John and Henri. Differences between the movie and

Lilo And Stitch: Movie Analysis
There are many movies that of which changed my life and how I view it now. There are three
movies in particular that have made me open my eyes and have a breakthrough. Each movie had its
own particular way of molding me to be who I am today. They all taught me very important things
that i will never forget. A movie that has changed the way I used to view my family is Lilo & Stitch.
In Lilo & Stitch there is a very important quote that has always stuck out to me. This quote reads
"Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten." Growing up my
parents were split, my biological father and mother disliked one another a lot. I would always tell
my mother how much I hated her for not letting me see my dad on days that

I Am Legend
The movie I am Legend is a great movie. I really enjoy I am Legend because it is a story about
Robert Neville (Will Smith) and his dog Samantha, a German shepherd, surviving in a "zombie"
apocalypse in the heart of New York City. Now these are not your normal zombies they are more or
less just infected, but they cannot go into sunlight because it burns their skin very quickly. They are
infected with a virus that started out having the ability to cure cancer, but then later mutated the host
into these zombie like creature that are stronger, faster, and all senses increased from a human.
Robert Neville is a scientist that is trying to find a cure to this outbreak. He is testing different
solutions on infected rats, and he found one that made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Anna, and Ethan go down to his lab in the basement, and lock themselves in a protected room with
the infected that he captured. The infected he capture was not infected anymore and was slowly
becoming human again, but the other infected started beating on the glass trying to break their way
into the room. So Robert takes a blood sample, which has the cure in it, of the captured infected
gives it to Anna and Ethan. He then locks them in a smaller emergency locker, and tells them to get
the cure to other scientists and fix it all. He then shuts the door and pulls a grenade out of a desk
drawer. Looking at all the infected in the room he pulls the pin and opens the door ending his life
and killing all the infected in the area. Anna and Ethan then find their way to other people and
scientists and were able to save the world because of the work of Robert Neville. In my opinion, the
movie I am Legend is a fantastic movie for many reasons being from plot, to characters, and to the
producer. The plot was based on a 1954 horror book I am Legend by Richard Matheson. This story
is what he is most well–known for and made him popular. Richard had many great works and those
got him the chance to write sixteen episodes for the popular television show The Twilight Zone.

the book follow the same fundamental plotline but there are some differences. This includes
different characters, points of view, and a different ending. In I Am The Cheese, a boy named Adam
Farmer is being interrogated about his life by a man named Brint. There are three separate plotlines
in this story including the past, a bike ride, and the interrogation. Adam has many hardships in his

But I Am A Cheerleader: Movie Analysis
In 1968s, a voluntary rating system was set up for keeping the youngster from seeing undesired or
unsuitable film. This system is called the MPAA (the Motion Picture Association of America). Based
on "This Film is Not Yet Rated" (2006), inside of the MPAA, there is an anonymous group of
parents gather to rate films. They give out the final rating result out like: G, PG–13, NC–17, R, and
PG. Basically, G means all ages admitted; PG, there are some material may not be suitable for
children, parental guidance suggested; PG–13, Some material may be inappropriate for children

She is the director of "But I' am a Cheerleader". Her movie is about gay kids who go to

if she wants to get an R instead of NC–17, she has to cut a scene of a girl who is masturbating. She
compared another movie named "American Pie" get released in the studio, it also including a scene
about a man using apple pie to masturbate. Apparently, there is no difference between them. Both of
them are about masturbation. Even though the audience cannot see any private spot, they can tell the
actor is masturbating. The only different thing between these two movies is "But I'm a Cheerleader "
which focus on homosexuality. Based on Jane, "many people who call themselves 'straight' might
actually be closer to the gay end of the continuum" (2010: 30). The exist of homosexuality (gay,
lesbian) is common between us, and lesbian and gay is gradually get accepted by the public, and "all
same–sex sexuality as queer terrain has also been a useful political strategy for the lesbian and gay
movement, and one that has been supported by scholarship on sexuality" (2010: 30). There should
be no reason that "But I'm a Cheerleader" gets shut down by the MPAA because of the main
background is about homosexuality. People work for the MPAA do not declaim themselves as
homosexuality, but it does not mean that there is nobody in society do not in favor of homosexuality.

I Am David Movie And Book Comparison Essay
Movie Book Comparison Which was better? I haven't a clue, but I am entitled to an opinion in
which you will read in the following. The opinion is not a fact nor statement, but it is an opinion.
And opinion in which you are not entitled to, but you can stand by this opinion. If you choose. I'm
going to answer the question which is better, with facts, opinions, and evidence. That might make
you do a double take. The Book I am David was far better than the movie. The book was better than
the movie as I have stated above. One reason for the book being better than the movie is that facts
have shown that 74% of the movies that have books. The book is better. This is one of those cases.
The book was longer, which led to a series of unfolding events where as the movie got right to the

A world of imagination. Where as with the movie you are sitting or lying down, where you can get
side tracked because the movie is boring. Where as with the series of unfolding events in the book
there are things to keep you reading. There maybe some things in the movie like that, but nothing
compared to the book. Also, why just stare at a screen for a long time and hurt your eyes, when you
can read a book. The book will cause no long term damage, nor any damage of any sort. The third
reason for the book being better than the movie was because the movie had changed so many parts
in the movie that weren't in the book.. And also the movie had changed a multiplicity of parts, such
as when David dropped his compass in the water. In the movie David had rolled down a hill and
broken the compass. Another thing that the movie changed is when David is on the ship heading to
Italy the man, David met had agreed not to turn him in for his pocket knife. In the book the man

Movie Analysis : ' Am I A Boy Or A Girl '
Society dictates unwritten "norms" of behaviors established within communities. And most
communities apprehend anything or anyone that could be contemplated outside the "norm". This
fear conceivably commenced around the world, in all different cultures. In the movie, Ma Vien en
Rose (My Life in Pink), director Alain Berliner highlights a family shunned by their own
community in retaliation of their seven year old transgender son, Ludovic. There are several
interesting aspects within this film that highlight the "fear" of difference. Also, the confusion and
anger embedded throughout the movie in regards to misapprehended gender based expectations. The
question that Ludovic continues to question throughout the film is, "Am I a boy or a girl"? This
analysis will examine the reactions that occur from both the community, and the family.
The film's opening scene displays couples in a picture perfect community, preparing a welcoming
party for the new family, the Fabre's. The new family include husband, wife, and four children, three
boys and one girl. The atmosphere surrounding the party is carefree and happy. When the Fabre's
introduce their children, the entire party pauses in shock as the youngest child Ludovic exits the
house in a princess dress and high heels. The parents laugh it off as a joke. It is only in private that
they attempt to dissuade Ludovic from presenting himself as a female. The introduction of Jerome

Griza Jones : A Film Analysis Of Indiana Jones
Indiana Jones is a adventurous/action movie it has many settings in the movie and it is about an
archaeologist that is looking for a important piece of history but while he's looking for it there are
bad men also trying to find it before him. This movie has many pros and cons but all together the
movie was pretty good and I would definitely watch it again. There are many ways to rate a movie
and there are many focuses to look on which many everyday people dont mind. I am going to use
these five elements to help and understand the movie; narrative, cinematography, sound, mise–en–
scene, and editing, these will help me understand and look at this movie in many different
perspectives. Breaking down a movie into these components allows you to look into depth and
seeing the true meaning of journalism. First element I am going to go into is the Narrative, Indiana
Jones had an amazing narrative the events followed up to the conclusion very well and this allowed
the movie to flow perfectly going from place to place. The way this was wrote it was very good
because during the movie there needed to be a lot of setting changes and the story helped it by doing
that. Another thing was the characters itself were amazing they all played their role as they were
supposed too but there was one character and I feel that didn't play his role as it was probably made
and he gave off an awkward feeling. The storyline gave off the action/adventure vibe and it was a
typical bad guys lose and good

Analysis Of I Am Legend
I am Legend
Almost all stories with the genre dystopian can relate back to the theme loss of humanity in some
way. The dystopian movie I am Legend does not break the stereotype, with this dystopian story
being told with loss of humanity as the plot. The movie was directed by Francis Lawrence, he is
most well known for his work with dystopian movies, especially in his work on the Hunger Games
series, Britney Spears Movie, and I am Legend. This movie takes place in New York City, with the
city abandoned all but the main character Robert and the monsters that only come out in the dark.
Robert is immune to the disease that turns people into these monsters, staying in the city so he can
find a cure. The movie I am Legend used heroism, multiple symbols, and narrative transport to
represent the theme loss of humanity.
The butterfly is one symbol from the movie that connects to the theme loss of humanity. The
butterfly was used multiple times in the movie, to show that regardless of this scenario that the main
character Robert is in, there is always hope and from the ugly world there can be something
beautiful. The butterfly is first shown in the movie when Roberts daughter was playing with a
butterfly, this scene was a flashback to show that there was life at one time that had hope in it. Near
the end of the movie, Robert is trapped in his lab with only a sheet of glass between himself and a
mob of monsters. When the monsters keep hitting the glass, the breaks in the glass made

I Am Sam Movie Review
I am Sam I am Sam is a 2001 American drama film written and directed by Jessie Nelson, starring
Sean Penn as Sam who has an intellectual disability that had sole care for his daughter Lucy
Diamond played by Dakota Fanning. The two of them encounter problems with the Department of
Child and Family Services as they believe the presence of Sam's intellectual disability negates his
ability to parent. A lawyer Rita Harrison played by Michelle Pfeiffer plays an important role in this
film as she is the only one to have belief in Sam's ability to parent. This M rated film has won
awards such as the Stanley Kramer award for their ability to place an emphasis on social concerns.
People with disabilities are often discriminated against the rest of society as a result of their
impairments. Jessie Nelson's use of mis–en–scene and semiotic elements engage the members of the
audience to position them to have their own perspective of Sam's situation as presented. The scene
that I have chosen to analyse approaches the climax of the film where problems begin to arise
between Sam and Lucy as the department of Child and Family Services believe Sam is an unfit
parent. This has come to attention as Lucy is becoming smarter surpassing Sam's intellectual ability.
Although Sean Penn is far from being limited in his ability to express himself, he was able to
convey such a condition with precise detail used in his body expressions and dialogue in a complex
manner. This would not have been

Movie Analysis: The Alamo Film
Introduction There have been many movies made in the past decade based on notable events that
have happened in the past and have been a huge part of American and in this case, Texas history. We
watch these films for several different reasons. One might be because of people wanting to get
factual information about events that have happened and it's crucial that these films provide the right
portrayal. Some movies are turned too much into the Hollywood style and make people believe
that's what actually happened. The movie I am going to critically analyze is called The Alamo was

I Am Legend: Book vs Movie Essay
When one hears the title I Am Legend being mentioned, they usually associate it with Will Smith
and the terrific job he did in portraying the protagonist of the story Robert Neville. However, what
they typically leave out is the equally terrific job done by author Richard Matheson coming up with
the storyline and writing the original book version. While Richard Matheson's post–apocalyptic
science fiction book, I Am Legend, and Francis Lawrence's post–apocalyptic science fiction movie,
I Am Legend, both have similarities and differences, in the end, the original book version prevails
mainly because the movie version alters the original storyline too much. In the movie, Robert

It is definitely one of the movie's strongest points. The look of the movie gives an eerie while also
beautiful quality to it, enhancing viewers look on the movie as a whole. The music used in this
movie was mainly used to help establish the mood for each scene. The music that was chosen for
specific parts of the movie was really geared towards enhancing the feeling for viewers. The lighting
was also used to establish the mood but it was also important to the plot of the movie. The lighting
played a key part in the movie because day and night, light and dark, were two completely different
scenarios. During the daytime, Neville and his dog got to travel and move around freely while at
night they had to stay locked up in his house. The reason for this being that the infected humans
couldn't be out in the light so during the day they stayed hidden in dark areas while at night they
could roam freely. The camera work was very crafty in this movie. There was a lot of free space in
many of the outdoors shots, which could've possibly symbolized the emptiness the world now had.
The indoor shots were more typical and were tighter, switching up the feel a little (Miller). Richard
Matheson's book I Am Legend falls under the genre of science fiction. Critics performing analysis
of I Am Legend often say it is a metaphor for the spread of communism, especially since it was

The term "bear arms," without further modifiers, did not gather a bigger meaning, such as hunting or
the mere carrying of arms in that time period. Individuals could be safe under the Second
Amendment if they were using guns or another type of firearm as protection. For example, I have
multiple firearms in my home and have taken Hunter Safety, which is a class designed to teach
youth under the age of 13 about how to handle and safely use a firearm. I have never needed to use
any type of firearm as self–defense, though if I ever needed to, I know my right to protection would
not be infringed, or invaded. I fully understand why the necessity for regulations, such as safe
handling techniques and properties from which a person is allowed to hunt, might be necessary.
Citizens would not feel they need to protect their homes and property due to knowing firearm
regulations would be enforced. I believe the initial reason the Bill of Rights was created was to
protect the rights of individuals, while simultaneously granting the government power as well.
However, we must also look at how the protections of both individualistic and collective rights are
afforded to each citizen. Aside from each amendment, no one protection is greater than another.
While it is argued the Second Amendment as individualistic, it is important to realize why others see
the amendment as shared rights. Some may perceive the Bill of Rights as being entirely collective,

I Am Sam:
A Psychological Film Analysis
The difficulties faced today in society by those with serious intellectual disabilities are very large
hurdles faced by many in today 's world. These disabilities along with the pressure to remain
independent question how we deal with those intellectually challenged individuals. The film, I Am
Sam details the struggle of Sam Dawson– a man living with mild intellectual disabilities– and his
fight to maintain custody of his young daughter. This film details many different important
psychological principles that are taught and studied in modern psychology. These principles are
brought up and make us question the validity and extent of principles that are held sacred in the
psychological world today. The idea of having different parenting styles and which way to parent
children is the best is debated and questioned in the psychological community. Sam Dawson
throughout the film is generally lenient and uses no stern language or punishment on his daughter,
Lucy. All this stays true until on scene, Sam decides to parent Lucy more sternly. In this scene, Sam
had just been told by school administrators that they were worried that Lucy would fall behind in

level. When Lucy tells him he cannot read a word and wants to go to sleep, he stops and tells

There are a couple of reasons for this. First, I can know and understand the characters feelings in the

has more detail, characters, and scenes because it doesn't need to be over in a certain amount of
time, unlike the movie. Third and final, I like to have my own imagination play a part in stories. I
am free to imagine the looks of everything when I am reading this story. In the movie, a picture is
put into your mind by someone else. All in all, the book was more enjoyable according to me. First,
understanding the characters feelings is a wonderful way to understand the story. When I read any
good book, I connect with the characters. To have this relationship, I have to understand the
characters thoughts and feelings. In the movie, instead of showing inside David's mind, they show
flashbacks. These flashbacks give the audience background information, and it ... Show more

When you watch I Am David, a picture is put into your mind. Also, David is a hard character to cast
because he has such a unique look. Ben Tibber did a wonderful job portraying David, but the look
that I had imagined was one of a kind and couldn't be matched. For that reason, I couldn't get my
mind wrapped around the idea that Ben was David. Another thing that a imagined was Italy being
more beautiful. The book describes Italy like it is one of the most gorgeous places in the world, so
that is how I imagined it. The set for Italy looked great, but the shops looked more rundown then I
thought. In conclusion, I prefer to picture the story on my own, so the book was more

Reflection Paper Nigeria
Reflection Paper
The Nigeria project created to show the economic issues are effecting the country in so many ways.
The most important questions in the project is what could help Nigeria and it currency to stand up
against the economic problems. The project has shown what the history of Nigeria is and explained
what the political issue as long the economy issues. This project had taken a place in my heart.
Looking outside the box and learn what other country has and how they are working on it. I saw
how the government without power lead to bad economy. How the extremist groups never build a
country. I also saw what is to be in order to have a good economy, and how the people look at you to
help them build their economy. This project showed me a lot of things that I will never forget and
start to see other countries and think about them.

Scary Movie Risk
What can I learn from the risks I choose to take? My risk was to watch a scary movie. I took this
risk because I have never watched one before and my brothers always tell me that I am a wimp. So I
decided that I would try watching "Insidious Chapter three". A strength that I took in consideration
is that I am not really easily scared. But a weakness that I took in consideration is that I am terrified
of clowns. Another consideration I made was challenge, the challenge was I hate when people get
possessed and I knew that in a scary movie that someone would get possessed. Attempting my goal
was difficult. Right before the movie started I screamed because it made a loud noise when someone
shut the door. Throughout the movie things would jump

Tardiness And Regret Essay
Tardiness and Regret
The story that I am going to tell is based on my true story and ithout any further ado let me begin the
story.
September 2015, I am officially being the student of Faculty of Arts, Udayana University. After the
orientation for new students, I got a lot of friends; students with the same year as me and older
students. One day when the sun was shining brightly and I was going to go back home, one of my
seniors greeted me. He said "Hi! Do you remember me?" I was thinking hardly and trying to
remember who he was. Then I replied, "Yes, of course. I remember you." Even though, I could not
remember who exactly he was. The day after, someone sent me message via Line application. I
looked at the photo of the sender, and then I could recognize that he was the senior who greeted me

girlfriend. I was worried about my assumption that they broke up it caused by me. However, he
explained the reason was because his girlfriend was too busy. A month passed after they broke up
and my relationship with him became closer. He started to flirt with me. He asked me to watch a
new movie in a cinema. Actually, we have the same hobby; it is watching a movie in the cinema and
our favorite movie genre as well. The first movie that we watch together was "Maze Runner".
During the movie he confessed his feeling; he liked me. He confessed the same thing in the second

Literature's Influence On The Movie Hairspray
Literature has the ability to influence people's lives in multiple ways. One of my all–time favorite
movies is the movie Hairspray. This movie, particularly, stands out to me because it proves to people
how one person can make a huge difference in the world. Hairspray has influenced my point of view
of the world by proving to me that someone, as quiet as I am, can prove to be more powerful than
they think they are. In the movie, Tracy Turnblad has a passion for dancing. She went after her
dreams not listening to anyone that told her she couldn't. Eventually she even made a difference that
changed the world. I, also, have a passion for dancing. Multiple people have told me in the past that
I should quit dance and I should not dance anymore.

Correspondingly stating individual differences by applying idioms in the text, Adele's song shows a
new sense of confidence along with the aforementioned pain while contrastingly Motion City
Soundtrack's song reveals a tone that is longing. The lyrics in "Rolling in the Deep" say, "See how I
leave with every piece of you. Don't underestimate the things that I will do." The speaker is shows
to be unaffected by the relationship and he/she is trying to show the past lover how easily he/she can
walk away from the relationship. The idiom reveals as somewhat of a retribution and gives off a
tone that is apathetic. With this tone, it gives off a newfound feeling of confidence the speaker has
gained for the speaker is showing that he/she could do better without his/her past lover. The
figurative language not only helps explain the major difference from the longing "My Favorite
Accident" expresses but it also helps to add on to the theme that relationships do not always work
out and that could be for better or for worse. In contrast, "My Favorite Accident" states, "I can't
swim in the silence of your skin–skin please let me in." The idiom indicates the speaker and the
lover may not speak any longer and the speaker is desperate to speak to his/her lover again. As
mentioned before, the text reveals a tone that is longing. With the desperation that is indicated

The Passion of the Christ, by Mel Gibson has taken America by storm. In the US alone, it made

The movie is subject to a lot of criticism. People are worried about many things. Are the images

How To Write A Speech On The Scarlet Letter
I am a junior at Francis W. Parker in Chicago and I am writing to you today to discuss your
production of "The Scarlet Letter". In my American Literature class, we have just read "The Scarlet
Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne. After completely finishing the book, we decided to watch the final
scenes of your film version. After watching a few minutes of your film, I already have a lot of
questions to ask you regarding why you decided to change the events of the story. My first question
to you is, why did you decide to have Roger Chillingworth kill himself? In the book, Chillingworth
does not hang himself and dies a natural death. What did you think suicide would bring to the
movie? Hester, Pearl, and Chillingworth all had a connection and by having Chillingworth kill
himself, that connection quickly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie also showed Chillingworth as a very weak man. In particular, a man that would be
willing to take his own life. Also, I did not see any significance of the scarlet letter in your film. In
the book, the scarlet letter is discussed in almost every chapter and it plays a huge role in the story.
The scarlet letter changes Hester and receives a great judgement from others. In the ending scenes of
your film, Pearl is seen leaving the town and leaving the scarlet letter behind like it's nothing. I do
not see any connection between Pearl and the scarlet letter in your film when it is clearly shown in
the actual work of literature. Everything that has happened in your film, makes me believe that you
did not do a good depiction of the story and that Nathaniel Hawthorne would not feel that this movie
accurately represents everything that was shown and said in the book. Hawthorne would probably
ask you the same questions because in the end, you still decided to change if not all, but most of the
outcomes in the book which is in a way, is disrespecting the

When people are upset they just want to go home, throw on their coziest sweatpants and cuddle up

The reason I am the movie "Unbroken" is because throughout the movie an american soldier goes

end the soldier overcomes. I overcame. The reason I am the word "true" is because I say it all the

The legalities that play out through the movie show the social service system as best–interest but
cold and inflexible with no other options. The movie did not address that there are government
programs that help specifically with DD parents and even the same parents that are raising DD
children. The Division of Developmental Disabilities is a federal department operated independently
by each state with multiple support options anywhere in the US. The movie tells a great story, and
the work the actors put into their roles is even more impressive after watching the documentary on
Sean Penn?s Becoming Sam and watching the professional actors working with mentally disabled
people in the film.

Why Him? By John Hamburg
I will be writing an analytical essay because I believe I am better at writing those type of essays
rather than all the other options. Also, there is a movie that I really enjoyed watching while I felt it
relates and incorporates a deeper meaning to a specific audience rather than being a movie for
comedy. I really enjoy finding hidden meanings in pieces in movies and showing how it relates to
real life. Another reason is because I use the hidden message I find and relate it to my own life
because it gives me a reminder of what people have to go through and how blessed I am or what I
will be needing to go through as well. I chose to write about the movie Why Him? by John Hamburg

The scariest thing was the first impression had been already ruined. This relates to the movie because
in the end it went well. They finally got to know me and understand the type of person I am and

the end of the day, they have to live to accept if there daughter really likes/loves you. I also chose
this movie because me and my girlfriend watched this movie together in the theaters so it has a
sentimental meaning to me as well. The specific audience I am writing about is people who have
had or have to meet their girlfriend's parents. My paper will be relevant to them because I am going
to write about how the movie relates scenes and turns the nerve wracking situation into comic relief
while still portraying the message of how in the end the parents have to learn to accept the boyfriend
because their daughter adores him. The film Why Him? by John Hamburg shows how people can
get through the nerve wracking experience of meeting a girlfriend's parents no matter how terribly it
goes through scenes within the movie, important phrases said, and comic

I Am The Cheese Movie And Book Comparison
In 1983, Robert Jiras released a live action rendition of Robert Cormier's book, "I Am the Cheese".
Both the book and the movie tell the tale of Adam Farmer, on a journey to his father, who is in a
hospital in Rutterburg, Vermont. Many of the main events in both versions are kept the same.
However, there are some differences between the two. The movie leaves out characters, has a
different ending, and overall, leaves a different impression on the audience. The book "I Am the
Cheese", has a variety of characters, which unlike the movie, are explained in depth, and given more
of a back story. One example of this is the main character Adam, and how he is inconsistently
depicted in the two versions. In the book, he is shown to be a curious ... Show more content on

For example, in the beginning of the book, in the part where Adam eavesdrops on the conversation
between Adam's mother, and some mysterious other character, which ends up being his aunt, does
not even occur in the movie. This is significant, because just like leaving some character background
information, removes some of the reason for Adams curiousness. One other essential difference
between the two, is found in the portrayal of Adam's thoughts. In the book, the reader can get an
insight into Adam's thoughts through his flashbacks, and during the bike ride, when he is talking in
his head. The movie however, is not able to portray this aspect of Adam very clearly if at all, and
therefore, some of Adam's thoughts and feelings are unknown to the audience. But, there are several
events in the plot of the book, that are to parallel to those in the movie. Some of these include the
interviews, Adam's anxiety/ memory issues, and the reality of the bike ride. These, when included in
the movie, help the audience understand the story better, since there are no plot holes, and they are

the small town of Ohio John finds love and makes new friends. He figures out he is more powerful

changed things in the movie. I think I liked the movie better than the book just simply because it
was pretty straight forward I didn't feel very much suspense and I like that. Despite all the

Movie Analysis : ' The Lepidcotor ' And Richard From I Am...
Hero's in literature are arguably "someone who is willing to sacrifice his own needs on behalf of
others" (Vogler, 2007, pp. 29), for example Christopher from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the
Night Time (Haddon, 2003). However there are examples of those who subvert this notion, Baxter
from 'The Lepidcotor' (Jackson, 2005) for example and Richard from I Am Legend (Matheson,
2010) who does it for his own gain. A characters traits, attributions, motivations and desires take
part in their ability to become a strong heroic figure, these character aspects will affect the journey
of the narrative and story.
Writers of fiction will use a mixture of common and individual traits when writing their characters,
this is to enable audience identification. Vogler argues that "Storytellers do this by giving their
Hero's a combination of qualities, a mix of universal and unique characteristics" (Vogler, 2007,
pp.30). When reading 'The Lepidoctor' readers are most likely to understand and empathise with
Baxter's need to rescue the helpless butterflies from their almost catatonic and captive state. And as
Vogler writes, this enables the readers to "become a Hero for a while" (Vogler, 2007, pp30) if only
through the medium of fictional characters. In I Am Legend Robert Neville has an intense need to
cleanse the world of vampires even if the task becomes too much for him, for example, Neville
cannot reuse the stakes he kills the vampires with and must continue to make dozens at a time.

Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close Analysis
In the movie, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, the phone calls to the family seen in the movie
are historically accurate. This is proven in the scene where Oskar shows the The Renter the
voicemails left from his dad on "The Worst Day". Oskar plays the 6 messages which occur at 8:56
am, 9:12 am, 9:58 am, 10:07 am, 10:17am, and finally 10:27 am. This is historically accurate when
compared to an article talking about the events of 9/11 and what time everything that happens took
place. The article states that at 8:46 am the north tower of the World Trade Center was hit. Thomas
leaves his first message only 10 minutes later saying "something has happened, I'm ok, I'll call back
later". According to the same article, at 9:03 am the south tower was struck, and in the movie at 9:12
am, Thomas calls and says "I don't know if you heard about what has happened, but I'm okay and
everything is fine", but then you hear people screaming in the ... Show more content on

scammering and Thomas yells, "What" and the phone call cuts off. The 4th message was left at
10:07 am, and the north World Trade Center collapses at 10:28 am according to the article. The last
and final message Thomas had left on the answering machine had been at 10:27am which was only
1 minute before the collapse of the tower. Since this was the last message left we know he was in the
north tower because it was the last tower to collapse, and the south tower collapsed at 9:59 am,
which makes complete sense with the movie since the last 3 messages he left all happened after this
time so he was clearly still

time, and whether or not I accomplished the task successfully. However, this time the number of
times and star stickers that indicate I successfully accomplish this task will matter more. If I
successfully wake up at 6:00 am during each weekday session (five days in a row), I will reward
myself by going to see a movie on the weekend. If I wake up on time only 4 out of the five weekday
sessions, then I will reward myself with watching one movie on Netflix during the weekend. Going
to the movies and watching a movie on Netflix will be positive reinforcement. If I fail to wake up on
time for three days in a row during a specific conditioning week, then I will not watch any movie at
all. Furthermore, I will not allow myself to access Netflix. This will be a negative punishment.
Ultimately, the desired behavior of waking up at 6:00 am weekday mornings will be positively
reinforced by the reward of getting to watch a movie on the weekend. Failure to wake up at 6:00 am

Theme Of Nudity And Drug Abuse In American Movies
1. In my opinion, a lot of American movies contain nudity or sexual scenes, violence, harsh
language or drug abuse. In some cases an American movie will contain all of these subjects, and the
result of that would be an R rated film. If I had never been to America and saw a film that contained
two or more of these themes then I would probably make some concussions of my own on what and
American is and what their values or culture is like. However, it all depends on what the movie
theme is. For example in comedies, depending on the rating, I would conclude that Americans are
funny and probably don't take things to seriously. If the comedy were super unintelligent (like the
movie sausage party which is rated R) I would think that Americans are

Essay On Citizen Kane

  • 1. Essay On Citizen Kane This film was directed by Benjamin Ross in 1999. The film is about a movie that was released about sixty years before this production. It is odd to me that in those sixty years, no one had chosen to create this film until Ross thought about it. It is weird to see a movie about another movie. It is obvious that a recreation is never the same than the original work, but I feel like this movie truly demonstrated some of the aspects and difficulties that Orson Welles experienced for his film, "Citizen Kane." If I were Orson and had gone through these many hardships for a movie, I probably would have given up. Orson's determination was greatly shown through this movie. Although it is ranked as one of the worst movies due to its camera work and imaging, I think it did a great job in visualising Orson's dreams. It is strange that Orson decided to create a movie based on a man who simply "offended" him. I also find it admiring that he decided to go after a man who was much "larger and important" in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "RKO 281" shows us that he destroyed many cameras and even broke through the wooden floor in order to get the perfect angle to shoot his scenes. There were many people, who were either on William Randolph Hearst's side or did not want to engage in any serious matters with him, who attempted to stop Orson's film from ever being seen. I think that it is somewhat "invasion of privacy" that Orson created this movie based on a man's life, but I do not find it illegal because Hearst was a public figure. This film was very successful and although I have not seen it, so I can not state my opinions on it, it is ranked as number one on the Best 100 Films. To be ranked number one in anything positive, is extremely admirable. Having a movie ranked number one is even better because, as we saw in "RKO 281," directing and acting in a movie simultaneously, as Orson did, must be a difficult ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. I Am Legend: Book Vs Movie When a book is made into a movie, everyone has contrasting opinions as to which was superior. Although, more times than not, you will hear that the book was better. I've heard it a million times; you've heard it a million times. In the case of I am Legend, however, the two are so drastically different that it is difficult to even compare them. In the book, there are vampires attempting to lead Robert Neville to his inevitable doom, while in the movie there are zombies. Neville is living in a suburban town in the book, while the movie takes place in New York City. One of the most noticeable differences, nevertheless, is that Robert Neville is "born of English–German decent" in the book, while Will Smith plays the character in the movie (14). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, Francis Lawrence did not need to cast the role of Robert Neville as a believable character because the entirety of the movie already possessed such great verisimilitude. In most mainstream movies, if a character is black they usually possess some type of black stereotype. In "I Am Legend" race is only mentioned in a positive light. When changing Robert Neville to a black character, Lawrence also added Neville's love for Bob Marley. While there is no mention of Bob Marley in the book, throughout the movie Neville is seen listening to Bob Marley's songs. He even mentions how him and his wife named their daughter Marley after Bob Marley. When sharing this passion with his new friend, Anna, Neville noted how he loved listening to Bob Marley's music because Bob Marley believed "that you could cure racism and hate, literally cure it, by injecting music and love into people's lives". Neville listened to Bob Marley's music to cure his fear from the zombies, but this is definitely symbolic for black people listening to Bob Marley to cure racism and hate. Francis Lawrence casted Will Smith as the lead, and added this love for Bob Marley, so for once there could be a movie with a black hero. No black stereotypes; only a really good movie with a really good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Blaxploitation In Peter Bergs Hancock: An African American... Post apocalyptic movie is a movie that set in a world or civilization after a disaster. It is a sub–genre of speculative fiction that is concerned with the collapse of civilization through various disasters such as nuclear war, plague, energy shortages, flood, earthquake, or political conflict (Moon 1). There are Movies such as 2012, Resident Evil, Doomsday, Children of Men, 28 Days Later and the adaptations of The Road, I Am Legend, and The Hunger Games have all had some degree of success in recent years (Miller 52). The Book of Eli movie shows the fragility of human civilization with violence and inhuman condition. Therefore, Eli takes a journey to spread the wise words from Bible in order to civilize people. This study focus on the stages of Journey that African American man has taken, not the event of Post apocalypse. Another post apocalyptic movie that led by African American is I am Legend, starred by Will Smith. The story is pretty much the same, the leading roles face problem in new situation and they later become hero. However, in I am Legend the hero that is African American cannot be considered as real hero ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of them the thesis entitled "Blaxploitation in Peter Berg's Hancock: An Africa American Criticism" by Moh. Arief. He examined about representation of black man, Hancock, as superheroes is identified from black stereotyping. Another study that conducted by Grisca Ayu Aprilia that entitled "The Representation of African American characters in Francis Lawrence's I am Legend and Marc Forster's World War Z: A Comparative study" emphasized different portrayal of African Americans based on comparison of both movies. • 7. I Am David Book Vs Movie I always thought that the books were always better than the movie based of the book. But, after watching I am David, I thought differently. The movie brought more emotion, more suspense, and it kept the story flowing better than the book did. To begin, the movie brought more emotion to the story. These emotion that the book lacked were portrayed in the movie. Some of these included when David realizes that his mother is alive, when he talks with Sophie, and the actors in general. The actor for David(add actors name) brought more emotion the way he looked and acted. This couldn't be told by the book with words as well as the movie. The actor for Honnas(Add actors name) added to the emotions the way he responded what was happening around him at what he was thinking. The book lacked this because they couldn't show what Honnas looked like and his emotions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The movie created the suspense that the book lacked. This suspense was created with the flashbacks so we could understand what David was remembering and thinking of. The flashbacks created suspense throughout the movie, but especially in a few parts. One of these parts is when David realizes that Honnas sacrificed himself for david because David stole the soap. Another part more suspense is created is when David is in the church and sees the guard, and realizes that the man had to shoot any one with the soap. But once the man sees that David has the soap he doesn't want to shoot David and signals to Honnas who takes the soap. • 9. Shower: Little Abou Life Is Beautiful Film's title "Evil" raise my interest. When I went on to the imdb.com, I got to know the film is about a bunch of students' life at a private school. The senior students there are in charge of students at lower level. Erik, the leading man, has to transfer from another school to the private school because of fighting. However, Erik doesn't listen to the senior students' order. The storyline of the film makes me feel like I am not interested in the topic of violence at school. Bill Thompson said he enjoyed the film, because " I cheered when the movie wanted me to cheer, was disgusted when it wanted me to be disgusted and so on". In terms of the theme of the film, he indicated that "I have to give credit to the actors and the writing, because otherwise I found Ondskan to be a very ordinary film, the type you would normally see from a workman like director." It sounds like the screenwriting of the film is good. Therefore, maybe I will get a chane to watch the film. Even though I am from China, I can't help picking this film to write about it. The film is Shower (1999). Because I live in the south of China, I know little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I watched the trailer of the movie and the leading man's performance really catches my eyes. He is humorous and romantic. The film won three three Oscars, including Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Music, Original Dramatic Score, and Best Foreign Language Film. The was a fun fact that the leading actor Roberto Benigni had been married to the leading actress Nicoletta Braschi, his real wife, since 1991 before they shot the movie. The leading man has a gift of comedy which he uses to protect his son when they are in death camp. The film is, Roger Ebert said, " about the human spirit. They both had a Halloween fair, which led to John being attacked. Also showing his amazing powers he contains. They Walk Among Us (The Magazine) provided the story of the Mogodoriens chasing the other numbers and John. Marks dad is a cop which makes John take it easy with Mark, for his dad to be suspicious. Sarah and John go to the school then the Mogodoriens start coming, which is a major scene in this movie. John and Henri moved to Paradise, Ohio, and it is where all the characters meet, but obviously John and Henri. • 13. Lilo And Stitch: Movie Analysis There are many movies that of which changed my life and how I view it now. There are three movies in particular that have made me open my eyes and have a breakthrough. Each movie had its own particular way of molding me to be who I am today. They all taught me very important things that i will never forget. A movie that has changed the way I used to view my family is Lilo & Stitch. In Lilo & Stitch there is a very important quote that has always stuck out to me. This quote reads "Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten." Growing up my parents were split, my biological father and mother disliked one another a lot. I would always tell my mother how much I hated her for not letting me see my dad on days that ... • 15. I Am Legend The movie I am Legend is a great movie. I really enjoy I am Legend because it is a story about Robert Neville (Will Smith) and his dog Samantha, a German shepherd, surviving in a "zombie" apocalypse in the heart of New York City. Now these are not your normal zombies they are more or less just infected, but they cannot go into sunlight because it burns their skin very quickly. They are infected with a virus that started out having the ability to cure cancer, but then later mutated the host into these zombie like creature that are stronger, faster, and all senses increased from a human. Robert Neville is a scientist that is trying to find a cure to this outbreak. He is testing different solutions on infected rats, and he found one that made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That night the infected find their way to Robert's house, they start to attack and get inside. Robert, Anna, and Ethan go down to his lab in the basement, and lock themselves in a protected room with the infected that he captured. The infected he capture was not infected anymore and was slowly becoming human again, but the other infected started beating on the glass trying to break their way into the room. So Robert takes a blood sample, which has the cure in it, of the captured infected gives it to Anna and Ethan. He then locks them in a smaller emergency locker, and tells them to get the cure to other scientists and fix it all. He then shuts the door and pulls a grenade out of a desk drawer. Looking at all the infected in the room he pulls the pin and opens the door ending his life and killing all the infected in the area. Anna and Ethan then find their way to other people and scientists and were able to save the world because of the work of Robert Neville. In my opinion, the movie I am Legend is a fantastic movie for many reasons being from plot, to characters, and to the producer. The plot was based on a 1954 horror book I am Legend by Richard Matheson. This story is what he is most well–known for and made him popular. Richard had many great works and those got him the chance to write sixteen episodes for the popular television show The Twilight Zone. This television show aired from 1959 to 1964 with five seasons and 156 episodes. Making the book into a movie shows that it was a good enough story to get to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1983, a movie was made based off this book. Both the movie and the book follow the same fundamental plotline but there are some differences. This includes different characters, points of view, and a different ending. In I Am The Cheese, a boy named Adam Farmer is being interrogated about his life by a man named Brint. There are three separate plotlines in this story including the past, a bike ride, and the interrogation. Adam has many hardships in his life and seems to be going crazy. This system is called the MPAA (the Motion Picture Association of America). Based on "This Film is Not Yet Rated" (2006), inside of the MPAA, there is an anonymous group of parents gather to rate films. The opinion is not a fact nor statement, but it is an opinion. And opinion in which you are not entitled to, but you can stand by this opinion. If you choose. I'm going to answer the question which is better, with facts, opinions, and evidence. That might make you do a double take. The Book I am David was far better than the movie. The book was better than the movie as I have stated above. One reason for the book being better than the movie is that facts have shown that 74% of the movies that have books. The book is better. This is one of those cases. The book was longer, which led to a series of unfolding events where as the movie got right to the chase, and skipped a lot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, why just stare at a screen for a long time and hurt your eyes, when you can read a book. The book will cause no long term damage, nor any damage of any sort. The third reason for the book being better than the movie was because the movie had changed so many parts in the movie that weren't in the book.. And also the movie had changed a multiplicity of parts, such as when David dropped his compass in the water. In the movie David had rolled down a hill and broken the compass. • 25. Movie Analysis : ' Am I A Boy Or A Girl ' Society dictates unwritten "norms" of behaviors established within communities. And most communities apprehend anything or anyone that could be contemplated outside the "norm". This fear conceivably commenced around the world, in all different cultures. In the movie, Ma Vien en Rose (My Life in Pink), director Alain Berliner highlights a family shunned by their own community in retaliation of their seven year old transgender son, Ludovic. There are several interesting aspects within this film that highlight the "fear" of difference. Also, the confusion and anger embedded throughout the movie in regards to misapprehended gender based expectations. The question that Ludovic continues to question throughout the film is, "Am I a boy or a girl"? This analysis will examine the reactions that occur from both the community, and the family. The film's opening scene displays couples in a picture perfect community, preparing a welcoming party for the new family, the Fabre's. The new family include husband, wife, and four children, three boys and one girl. The atmosphere surrounding the party is carefree and happy. When the Fabre's introduce their children, the entire party pauses in shock as the youngest child Ludovic exits the house in a princess dress and high heels. The parents laugh it off as a joke. Griza Jones : A Film Analysis Of Indiana Jones Indiana Jones is a adventurous/action movie it has many settings in the movie and it is about an archaeologist that is looking for a important piece of history but while he's looking for it there are bad men also trying to find it before him. This movie has many pros and cons but all together the movie was pretty good and I would definitely watch it again. There are many ways to rate a movie and there are many focuses to look on which many everyday people dont mind. I am going to use these five elements to help and understand the movie; narrative, cinematography, sound, mise–en– scene, and editing, these will help me understand and look at this movie in many different perspectives. Breaking down a movie into these components allows you to look into depth and seeing the true meaning of journalism. First element I am going to go into is the Narrative, Indiana Jones had an amazing narrative the events followed up to the conclusion very well and this allowed the movie to flow perfectly going from place to place. The way this was wrote it was very good because during the movie there needed to be a lot of setting changes and the story helped it by doing that. Another thing was the characters itself were amazing they all played their role as they were supposed too but there was one character and I feel that didn't play his role as it was probably made and he gave off an awkward feeling. The dystopian movie I am Legend does not break the stereotype, with this dystopian story being told with loss of humanity as the plot. The movie was directed by Francis Lawrence, he is most well known for his work with dystopian movies, especially in his work on the Hunger Games series, Britney Spears Movie, and I am Legend. This movie takes place in New York City, with the city abandoned all but the main character Robert and the monsters that only come out in the dark. Robert is immune to the disease that turns people into these monsters, staying in the city so he can find a cure. The movie I am Legend used heroism, multiple symbols, and narrative transport to represent the theme loss of humanity. The butterfly is one symbol from the movie that connects to the theme loss of humanity. The butterfly was used multiple times in the movie, to show that regardless of this scenario that the main character Robert is in, there is always hope and from the ugly world there can be something beautiful. The butterfly is first shown in the movie when Roberts daughter was playing with a butterfly, this scene was a flashback to show that there was life at one time that had hope in it. Near the end of the movie, Robert is trapped in his lab with only a sheet of glass between himself and a mob of monsters. When the monsters keep hitting the glass, the breaks in the glass made ... I Am Sam Movie Review I am Sam I am Sam is a 2001 American drama film written and directed by Jessie Nelson, starring Sean Penn as Sam who has an intellectual disability that had sole care for his daughter Lucy Diamond played by Dakota Fanning. The two of them encounter problems with the Department of Child and Family Services as they believe the presence of Sam's intellectual disability negates his ability to parent. A lawyer Rita Harrison played by Michelle Pfeiffer plays an important role in this film as she is the only one to have belief in Sam's ability to parent. This M rated film has won awards such as the Stanley Kramer award for their ability to place an emphasis on social concerns. People with disabilities are often discriminated against the rest of society as a result of their impairments. Jessie Nelson's use of mis–en–scene and semiotic elements engage the members of the audience to position them to have their own perspective of Sam's situation as presented. The scene that I have chosen to analyse approaches the climax of the film where problems begin to arise between Sam and Lucy as the department of Child and Family Services believe Sam is an unfit parent. This has come to attention as Lucy is becoming smarter surpassing Sam's intellectual ability. Although Sean Penn is far from being limited in his ability to express himself, he was able to convey such a condition with precise detail used in his body expressions and dialogue in a complex manner. I Am Legend: Book vs Movie Essay When one hears the title I Am Legend being mentioned, they usually associate it with Will Smith and the terrific job he did in portraying the protagonist of the story Robert Neville. However, what they typically leave out is the equally terrific job done by author Richard Matheson coming up with the storyline and writing the original book version. While Richard Matheson's post–apocalyptic science fiction book, I Am Legend, and Francis Lawrence's post–apocalyptic science fiction movie, I Am Legend, both have similarities and differences, in the end, the original book version prevails mainly because the movie version alters the original storyline too much. The look of the movie gives an eerie while also beautiful quality to it, enhancing viewers look on the movie as a whole. The music used in this movie was mainly used to help establish the mood for each scene. The music that was chosen for specific parts of the movie was really geared towards enhancing the feeling for viewers. The lighting was also used to establish the mood but it was also important to the plot of the movie. The lighting played a key part in the movie because day and night, light and dark, were two completely different scenarios. During the daytime, Neville and his dog got to travel and move around freely while at night they had to stay locked up in his house. The reason for this being that the infected humans couldn't be out in the light so during the day they stayed hidden in dark areas while at night they could roam freely. The camera work was very crafty in this movie. There was a lot of free space in many of the outdoors shots, which could've possibly symbolized the emptiness the world now had. The indoor shots were more typical and were tighter, switching up the feel a little (Miller). Richard Matheson's book I Am Legend falls under the genre of science fiction. However, the Bill of Rights gives every American his or her freedoms and limitations, while listing specific prohibitions on governmental power. That being said, it is important to know exactly what your rights are, especially when the subject comes to gun control. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term "bear arms," without further modifiers, did not gather a bigger meaning, such as hunting or the mere carrying of arms in that time period. Individuals could be safe under the Second Amendment if they were using guns or another type of firearm as protection. For example, I have multiple firearms in my home and have taken Hunter Safety, which is a class designed to teach youth under the age of 13 about how to handle and safely use a firearm. I have never needed to use any type of firearm as self–defense, though if I ever needed to, I know my right to protection would not be infringed, or invaded. I fully understand why the necessity for regulations, such as safe handling techniques and properties from which a person is allowed to hunt, might be necessary. Citizens would not feel they need to protect their homes and property due to knowing firearm regulations would be enforced. I believe the initial reason the Bill of Rights was created was to protect the rights of individuals, while simultaneously granting the government power as well. However, we must also look at how the protections of both individualistic and collective rights are afforded to each citizen. Aside from each amendment, no one protection is greater than another. While it is argued the Second Amendment as individualistic, it is important to realize why others see the amendment as shared rights. The idea of having different parenting styles and which way to parent children is the best is debated and questioned in the psychological community. Both are fantastic, but, if I had to chose, I would say that I like the book better. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, I can know and understand the characters feelings in the book better than in the movie. This way, a can connect to the characters a more. Second, the book has more detail, characters, and scenes because it doesn't need to be over in a certain amount of time, unlike the movie. First, understanding the characters feelings is a wonderful way to understand the story. When I read any good book, I connect with the characters. In my American Literature class, we have just read "The Scarlet Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne. After completely finishing the book, we decided to watch the final scenes of your film version. After watching a few minutes of your film, I already have a lot of questions to ask you regarding why you decided to change the events of the story. My first question to you is, why did you decide to have Roger Chillingworth kill himself? In the book, Chillingworth does not hang himself and dies a natural death. The scarlet letter changes Hester and receives a great judgement from others. In the ending scenes of your film, Pearl is seen leaving the town and leaving the scarlet letter behind like it's nothing. I do not see any connection between Pearl and the scarlet letter in your film when it is clearly shown in the actual work of literature. The reason I am the movie "Unbroken" is because throughout the movie an american soldier goes through a series of unrelenting hardships. Through my life I have gone through a lot of things. In the end the soldier overcomes. I overcame. The reason I am the word "true" is because I say it all the time. When I first became friends with Rachel, Bri and Tess, they all would use the word "true" incessantly . I caught on to it and now I can't help but blurt out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The movie did not address that there are government programs that help specifically with DD parents and even the same parents that are raising DD children. The Division of Developmental Disabilities is a federal department operated independently by each state with multiple support options anywhere in the US. The movie tells a great story, and the work the actors put into their roles is even more impressive after watching the documentary on Sean Penn?s Becoming Sam and watching the professional actors working with mentally disabled people in the film. 12. • 65. Why Him? By John Hamburg I will be writing an analytical essay because I believe I am better at writing those type of essays rather than all the other options. Also, there is a movie that I really enjoyed watching while I felt it relates and incorporates a deeper meaning to a specific audience rather than being a movie for comedy. I really enjoy finding hidden meanings in pieces in movies and showing how it relates to real life. Another reason is because I use the hidden message I find and relate it to my own life because it gives me a reminder of what people have to go through and how blessed I am or what I will be needing to go through as well. I chose to write about the movie Why Him? by John Hamburg because it relates to many people's life and ridicules the idea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scariest thing was the first impression had been already ruined. This relates to the movie because in the end it went well. They finally got to know me and understand the type of person I am and now, they like me. I can relate to the movie because meeting your girlfriend's parents is scary, but at the end of the day, they have to live to accept if there daughter really likes/loves you. I also chose this movie because me and my girlfriend watched this movie together in the theaters so it has a sentimental meaning to me as well. The specific audience I am writing about is people who have had or have to meet their girlfriend's parents. My paper will be relevant to them because I am going to write about how the movie relates scenes and turns the nerve wracking situation into comic relief while still portraying the message of how in the end the parents have to learn to accept the boyfriend because their daughter adores him. The film Why Him? by John Hamburg shows how people can get through the nerve wracking experience of meeting a girlfriend's parents no matter how terribly it goes through scenes within the movie, important phrases said, and comic ... • 67. I Am The Cheese Movie And Book Comparison In 1983, Robert Jiras released a live action rendition of Robert Cormier's book, "I Am the Cheese". Both the book and the movie tell the tale of Adam Farmer, on a journey to his father, who is in a hospital in Rutterburg, Vermont. Many of the main events in both versions are kept the same. However, there are some differences between the two. The movie leaves out characters, has a different ending, and overall, leaves a different impression on the audience. The book "I Am the Cheese", has a variety of characters, which unlike the movie, are explained in depth, and given more of a back story. One example of this is the main character Adam, and how he is inconsistently depicted in the two versions. In the book, he is shown to be a curious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in the beginning of the book, in the part where Adam eavesdrops on the conversation between Adam's mother, and some mysterious other character, which ends up being his aunt, does not even occur in the movie. This is significant, because just like leaving some character background information, removes some of the reason for Adams curiousness. One other essential difference between the two, is found in the portrayal of Adam's thoughts. In the book, the reader can get an insight into Adam's thoughts through his flashbacks, and during the bike ride, when he is talking in his head. The movie however, is not able to portray this aspect of Adam very clearly if at all, and therefore, some of Adam's thoughts and feelings are unknown to the audience. But, there are several events in the plot of the book, that are to parallel to those in the movie. Some of these include the interviews, Adam's anxiety/ memory issues, and the reality of the bike ride. These, when included in the movie, help the audience understand the story better, since there are no plot holes, and they are provided with generally the some story overall as the ... • 69. I Am Number Four Movie And Book Comparison Essay Rose Reeves Mr.Boynton English 4 12/11/2015 Compare And Contrast I Am Number Four Book And Movie The novel I am number four was written by Pittacus Lore. It is a book about a boy named John Smith who is an alien on the run from enemies hunting him and the eight others like him. Always changing his identity and moving to different towns with his guardian, Henri. But in the small town of Ohio John finds love and makes new friends. He figures out he is more powerful than he knows. The movie is much different than the book. I was really shocked at how much they changed things in the movie. I think I liked the movie better than the book just simply because it was pretty straight forward I didn't feel very much suspense and I like that. Despite all the differences in the book there were a few similarities. The names of all the characters stayed the same. The thing I am glad they didn't change was the love between John and Sarah. I feel like that little hint of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First thing is everything happened fast in the movie, in the book everything was slow and leading up to the climax. In the movie it was like it all happened at once at least that's what it felt like. As far as actual differences go there were plenty. In the book during the first day of school Sarah was taking pictures of John, In the movie she does not take pictures. Sam Goode wears his father's glasses in the book but in the movie he does not. I think one of the differences I really hoped wouldn't of been there was the fact that Sam wasn't wearing his nasa shirt in the movie. Sarah's mom the real estate agent never sold Henri and John their house they just kind of took the sign down and moved in without the help of a real estate agent in the movie. John's dog transforms into a dragon like creature but without wings in the book but in the movie he turns into a giant vicious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Movie Analysis : ' The Lepidcotor ' And Richard From I Am... Hero's in literature are arguably "someone who is willing to sacrifice his own needs on behalf of others" (Vogler, 2007, pp. 29), for example Christopher from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time (Haddon, 2003). However there are examples of those who subvert this notion, Baxter from 'The Lepidcotor' (Jackson, 2005) for example and Richard from I Am Legend (Matheson, 2010) who does it for his own gain. A characters traits, attributions, motivations and desires take part in their ability to become a strong heroic figure, these character aspects will affect the journey of the narrative and story. Writers of fiction will use a mixture of common and individual traits when writing their characters, this is to enable audience identification. Vogler argues that "Storytellers do this by giving their Hero's a combination of qualities, a mix of universal and unique characteristics" (Vogler, 2007, pp.30). When reading 'The Lepidoctor' readers are most likely to understand and empathise with Baxter's need to rescue the helpless butterflies from their almost catatonic and captive state. And as Vogler writes, this enables the readers to "become a Hero for a while" (Vogler, 2007, pp30) if only through the medium of fictional characters. In I Am Legend Robert Neville has an intense need to cleanse the world of vampires even if the task becomes too much for him, for example, Neville cannot reuse the stakes he kills the vampires with and must continue to make dozens at a time. ... • 73. Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close Analysis In the movie, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, the phone calls to the family seen in the movie are historically accurate. This is proven in the scene where Oskar shows the The Renter the voicemails left from his dad on "The Worst Day". Oskar plays the 6 messages which occur at 8:56 am, 9:12 am, 9:58 am, 10:07 am, 10:17am, and finally 10:27 am. This is historically accurate when compared to an article talking about the events of 9/11 and what time everything that happens took place. The article states that at 8:46 am the north tower of the World Trade Center was hit. Thomas leaves his first message only 10 minutes later saying "something has happened, I'm ok, I'll call back later". According to the same article, at 9:03 am the south tower was struck, and in the movie at 9:12 am, Thomas calls and says "I don't know if you heard about what has happened, but I'm okay and everything is fine", but then you hear people screaming in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The other 3 phone calls before the last one, you could hear the pain in Thomas' voice, and how much he says he wants to talk to his family. The 4th message for example, Thomas says "... I just wanted to tell you how much I love you", then you hear a loud noise in the back and lots of people scammering and Thomas yells, "What" and the phone call cuts off. The 4th message was left at 10:07 am, and the north World Trade Center collapses at 10:28 am according to the article. The last and final message Thomas had left on the answering machine had been at 10:27am which was only 1 minute before the collapse of the tower. Since this was the last message left we know he was in the north tower because it was the last tower to collapse, and the south tower collapsed at 9:59 am, which makes complete sense with the movie since the last 3 messages he left all happened after this time so he was clearly still ... I found some similarities between Pocahontas and me. Some correspondences we have together are that we both love to explore nature, we are both brave, and we both express our feelings freely. Comparing myself to a character from a book or movie is difficult, but I love the character I compare myself to. First, I compare myself to Pocahontas because we both love to explore nature. I love to be free and discover new things. Pocahontas also loves to be free and discover new things. One thing I love to discover is new ponds and lakes, and see the wildlife around it. Materials: The materials involved in this study include my One Plus One phone alarm, a pen, paper, star stickers, my laptop, a subscription to Netflix, and movie tickets. Procedures: In this study, I plan to utilize the principles of operant conditioning and a token economy in an attempt to learn to wake up at precisely 6:00 am on weekday mornings. On the night of Sunday, March 19th, 2017, I will set my phone alarm clock to 6:00 am before bed. This is done in preparation for base line measurement procedures. On the morning of Monday, March 20th, 2017 the base line measurement trails will begin. Base line measurements will be conducted for a total of five days (Monday, March 20th through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only this time, there will be a reward and punishment system in the form of a token economy that should influence my behavior. During the conditioning trials period, (Monday, March 27th through Friday, April 14th weekdays only), I will follow the exact same procedures that I did the previous week. I will wake up at exactly 6:00 am when my alarm goes off, get out of bed, and note the date, time, and whether or not I accomplished the task successfully. However, this time the number of times and star stickers that indicate I successfully accomplish this task will matter more. If I successfully wake up at 6:00 am during each weekday session (five days in a row), I will reward myself by going to see a movie on the weekend. If I wake up on time only 4 out of the five weekday sessions, then I will reward myself with watching one movie on Netflix during the weekend. Going to the movies and watching a movie on Netflix will be positive reinforcement. If I fail to wake up on time for three days in a row during a specific conditioning week, then I will not watch any movie at all. Furthermore, I will not allow myself to access Netflix. This will be a negative punishment. Ultimately, the desired behavior of waking up at 6:00 am weekday mornings will be positively reinforced by the reward of getting to watch a movie on the weekend. • 79. Theme Of Nudity And Drug Abuse In American Movies 1. In my opinion, a lot of American movies contain nudity or sexual scenes, violence, harsh language or drug abuse. In some cases an American movie will contain all of these subjects, and the result of that would be an R rated film. If I had never been to America and saw a film that contained two or more of these themes then I would probably make some concussions of my own on what and American is and what their values or culture is like. However, it all depends on what the movie theme is. For example in comedies, depending on the rating, I would conclude that Americans are funny and probably don't take things to seriously. If the comedy were super unintelligent (like the movie sausage party which is rated R) I would think that Americans are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
