Synopsis
The Construction Contract Act 2013 was enacted in July 2013 and a Commencement Order is anticipated
The Act, in addition to regulating the payment provisions under construction contracts, will allow a party to a
construction contract to refer a dispute relating to payment to adjudication
This course provides candidates with an understanding of the general principles of adjudication and includes
a comparison of the main ADR processes - arbitration, mediation and adjudication.
This course is designed for those that wish to learn more about adjudication and its benefits to users, and
those that are considering further study to develop their knowledge in the field of adjudication and gain
membership with the Institute.
The course will give candidates a basic understanding of the principles of good practice and procedure in
adjudication.
The course is delivered over 1 day, and consists of a series of lectures and discussion workshops.
Candidates will be required to complete an assignment at the end of the course.
Candidates who successfully complete the assignment will receive a CIArb Introductory Certificate and will
be eligible to apply for Associate grade membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
