2. Oggi sentiamo spesso parlare cosí di questa
cittá:
“Istanbul is becoming
increasingly colorful in terms
of it’s rich cultural and social
activities...”*

3. Mentre i musicisti di fama
mondiale riempiono gli stadi,
le attività quali l’opera, la
danza, il teatro e mostre
proseguono per tutto l’arco
dell’anno.
4. Sede della biennale d’arte da
18 anni, ha ospitato 636 artisti
provenienti da più di 70 paesi.
Dall’altra parte, 20 nuovi
musei negli ultimi 20 anni.
6. Questa è la Istanbul delle
campagne pubblicitarie…
Peró é impossibile parlare della
relazione di Istanbul con la
cultura contemporanea senza
parlare dei contrasti che la
creano.
7. # La popolazione di Istanbul
si é quadruplicata negli ultimi
trenta anni.
La cultura non è stata una priorità nelle
strategie urbane di ingrandimento. Eventi ed
attività culturali sono ancora legati a specifici
quartieri della città.
8. # I conflitti causati dalle
politiche urbane aggressive
del governo influiscono sulla
vita culturale. Sia nella forma
di collaborazioni che come
scontri.
La nuova amministrazione ha messo in atto
una serie di progetti di rinnovamento urbano
invasivo. I quali creano fusioni di gruppi
artistici, organizzazioni sociali e politiche
locali.
9. # Gli avvenimenti più
alternativi all’interno della
scena artistica trovano
spazio per promorsi solanto
all’interno della stessa scena.
La scena artistica più alternativa è ancora alle
prese con l’assenza di decisioni politiche favor-
evoli e con ostacoli di natura politica e sociale e
mancanza di una vera network di comunicazi-
one.
10. # Nell’assenza di regolamenti
e con il disinteresse delle
pubbliche amministrazioni, è
il settore privato a promuovere
l’arte in Turchia.
Questo fenomeno comporta l’adozione di
regole di mercato anche nel campo della pro-
duzione artistica: invece di collaborazioni e
sana concorrenza tra le istituzioni, si predili-
gono manifestazioni mainstream per attrarre
con grandi numeri.
11. Istanbul oggi;
Ad Istanbul si percepisce l’assenza di dialogo
tra le diverse sfaccettature (tra i diversi strati)
della scena artistica, tra la scena artistica e i
cittadini, con l’amministrazione e infine con la
cittá.
Ai visitatori non viene offerta alcuna piatta-
forma per entrare in contatto con la vera scena
locale e andare oltre il mainstream.
Ciò avviene per la mancanza di regolamenti e
il poco spazio che i musei dedicano alla pro-
duzione ed archiviazione della scena artistica
locale.

13. IKSV: Istanbul Foundation for
Culture and Arts
Fondata da una delle
famiglie di grandi industriali
di Istanbul, la Famiglia
Eczacibasi, IKSV é la ONG
leader del settore.
IKSV é stata fondata in 1973 con la missione
di “offrire i migliori esempi di arte da
tutto il mondo, mentre al tempo stesso
promuovere il patrimonio nazionale, culturale
e artistico della Turchia, usando le arti per
creare una piattaforma internazionale di
comunicazione.”*

14. Why IKSV?
IKSV fa parte di un network potente di
“cultural operators” internazionali e in stretto
contatto con opinion leaders del settore.
Attraverso diverse iniziative IKSV ha
dimostrato volontá di adottare una struttura
piu aperta e flessibile.
La nova executive board é in cerca di progetti
che genereranno un ritorno economico alla
fondazione.
15. IKSV OGGI
É entrato in un momento di
ridefinizione dei suoi funzioni.

liquido, IKSV rappresenta ancora un
modello d’istituzione caratterizzata da
un’organizzazione strutturale fortemente
gerarchica.

17. La Proposta per IKSV e
Istanbul:
La mia proposta di progetto è una piattaforma
che promuove la “partecipazione ed
immersione” delle persone nella promozione
della produzione artistica di Istanbul, usando
la mappatura come strumento primario.
Si basa sulla creazione di una mappa
interattiva delle manifestazioni culturali di
Istanbul, e incoraggia i membri della comunità
a contribuire personalmente allo scambio di
conoscenze, mappando e selezionando gli
eventi.

37. Conclusions
Partendo dall’osservazione interna all’IKSV e
analizzando i modelli teorici sul campo ho cercato di
creare un’interfaccia di comunicazione.
La scelta di una piattaforma aperta e di mappatura
segue l’esigenza di adattarsi dinamicamente ai
cambiamenti rapidi nellla scena urbana e artistica di
Istanbul.
