1. ‘From the director of’. Tells us that this film comes
from a well known director.
Underneath this is a review telling the audience that
the movie is ‘Scary as hell’.
The background is red – red specifies danger, blood
etc… Also the eyes in the background have an
infected look about them.
The title is worn and is in a white font which stands
out on the red background. Behind the title is a
hazard symbol. This tells us that this movie revolves
around a hazard.
The image underneath the title shows a person
wondering through a faded image of London. The
image could be faded to signify that the city is
destroyed.
There is a tagline above the release date that says ‘
Your days are numbered.’ This tells us that the movie
is about survival.

2. The title has a sense of depth, possibly
referring to the dead rising from the grave,
indicated by the head behind the title which is
covered in blood. This is also supported by the
tagline above the head.
To the left of the head there is a caption which
reads: ‘First there was Night of the Living
Dead’ indicating that this is not the first movie
in the franchise.
Underneath this it reads: ‘New, George A.
Romero’s.’ telling us that this movie was
possibly directed/produced by him.
The background goes from a deep blood red
colour to lighter shades of red and finally
white. This tells us that there will be a fair
share of gore in the movie.
Underneath the title are a list of big names
such as actors/producers.

3. The tagline ‘ Welcome to your new
nightmare’ implies that this is a newer
version of the original A Nightmare on Elm
Street.
The main colour is red, which implies
danger, death, blood etc… The title
emphasizes the word ‘Nightmare’ over
everything else, telling us that he will make
sure to give us nightmares.
The fact that the hat covers the eyes gives
the impression that it is dangerous to make
eye contact with him.
The knife on his hand is marked with blood
stains implying that he uses it to kill his
victims.
His worn clothes and damaged body could
imply that he is killing people for revenge.
At the bottom of the poster is the release
date of the film.

4. At the top of the poster it reads ‘The most
terrifying movie of all time’ which implies that
we have never seen anything more scarring in
our lives. This is also in a red box to catch our
eye.
A lamp post stands outside the house with a
rectangle shape on it. This could be a street sign
which reads ‘Elm Street’.
A silhouette of a man stands in front of a house
with a light shining on him from the window,
smoke surrounds the silhouette.
The silhouette looks like an inspector who has
come to look into some problems within the
house.
Underneath the silhouette is the title which is in
a bold red font. Red signifying danger.

5. The first half of the tagline ‘They’re
Here’, implies that ghosts have risen to
cause a disturbance, this theory is
reinforced by the name of the movie,
Poltergeist.
The second half of the tagline ‘And
they know what scares you.’, implies
that they have been watching you
throughout your life or that they can
see into your mind and manipulate
you.
Chairs that have been stacked like this
show that a human has not done this
because who would stack chairs like
that? It also looks like the chairs are on
a dimly lit television screen.
The poster has a worn and old look to
it, implying that the setting is an
abandoned house. The title also has
this worn and faded effect.
