Founded in 1936, the DGA is a labor organization with
members working in television, film, commercials, and
other types of media. The organization negotiates
industry-wide agreements, pension and health
benefits, and residuals. Since it began, the group has
represented more than 17,000 worldwide members.

• In May 2017, the DGA announced the schedule for important dates
leading up to the 70th annual DGA Awards. The awards ceremony is
scheduled for February 3, 2018, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in
Beverly Hills, California.
DGA members can vote online from November 29, 2017, through
January 10, 2018, for feature film nominations. Feature film and
first-time feature film nominees will be announced January 11,
2018, and from January 11, 2018, through February 2, 2018,
members can vote for the feature film award.
From December 11, 2017, through January 8, 2018, DGA members
can vote for television nominations, and television, commercial,
and documentary nominees will be announced January 10, 2018.
