• The recipient of a bachelor's degree in performing arts
from Hampshire College, David Nicksay is an
experienced film producer whose movie credits include
Antitrust, Be Cool, Legally Blonde, and The Negotiator.
Among his many professional associations in the film
industry, David Nicksay holds membership in The
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The Academy began hosting the Student Academy
Awards in 1972 to inspire and encourage young
filmmakers, and it has served well in that regard. Since
its inception, individuals who have won Student
Academy Awards have combined to receive 62 Oscar
nominations. That list includes Robert Zemeckis, Spike
Lee, Trey Parker, and Pete Docter.

• The 46th Student Academy Awards ceremony took place on
October 17 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater and featured
some of the world's most talented collegiate filmmakers.
American Film Institute students Asher Jelinsky, Hao
Zheng, and Omer Ben-Shachar received awards in the
category of Narrative (Domestic Film Schools), while
students from schools in the United Kingdom, Norway, and
Switzerland won for Narrative (International Film Schools).
Eva Rendle (UC Berkeley), Princess Garrett (Villanova), and
Abby Lieberman and Joshua Lucas (Columbia), meanwhile,
earned distinction for Documentary (Domestic Film
Schools). Other recipients were from schools such as USC,
Brigham Young University, and the Film and TV School of
the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Czech Republic.
