Skiing originated during the Ice Age when people used wooden pieces to travel down hills and later developed skis for pleasure and short transportation. It requires extensive gear like snow pants, boots, jackets, gloves and helmets to stay warm as well as skis and poles. Being a skilled skier involves looking far ahead to avoid collisions, following skiing rules, having proper technique, and once accomplished, it can be enjoyed alone or with friends.
