PROFILE description
Dave Eccles has broad project experience in the development of high volume products such as housewares,
hardware fittings, office dispensers, and solar energy appliances. Dave has also designed products for mass
production in Industrial Design offices in NYC & UK, and is a CAD and assembly modeling expert.
Tooling experience is unsurpassed, including a multitude of molded plastic parts, progressive dies, high-volume
sand and die-castings, and extrusions.
CAREER HISTORY – BESICORP and SunWize Solar Electric systems and products, Kingston, NY
Developed a line of accessories for laptops and cell phones. Provided Industrial Design concepts, engineering &
modeling in Solidworks and ACAD, of several accessories in plastic - with cord winders, stands, LCD displays,
and packaging. Provided prototypes, stress analysis and coordinated consultants. Also responsible for the
company-wide CADD operations.
Project Design Engineer - FARGO, Poughkeepsie. Mfr. of fittings for Utilities. Invented connectors for cables.
Did assemblies and made models, then tooled up for high volume sand and die castings, plastic moldings (bird
guards, boxes), screw machine and stamped parts. Later retained as consultant, (see D E Design.)
Product Design Engineer – Bio Energy Systems, Ellenville. Solar Thermal products. Engineered glazed, instant
framing kit for solar collectors of any size. Utilized 12 rubber and Al. extrusions. Performed stress and energy
calculations and windloading for sales in Florida. Also produced numerous product literature brochures for the
company.
Engineering Manager - MARPAC, Kingston. Injection molder of office machine parts and refills. Engineered
audiocassette, and plastic dispensing valves.
Converted molding machine to cam operation.
Product Designer - PEARL-WICK CORP, NY City. Housewares Mfr. Sole Designer of several knockdown
product lines using large plastic moldings. Bathroom and kitchen items defined by the VP of Sales: hampers,
chests, furniture, cabinets, sewing boxes, tubular and vanity chairs, metal – 5 items in Sears’ Catalogue. Many
sold in the millions. Was later retained as freelance.
D E Design 90-95, Own Design Office. Projects included:
Prototype Shop - Co-founder with Bill Militello. We made models for IBM.
Maine Turnpike Authority - Mechanical design of tollbooths and automatic coin machines
Deli-Buddy Mfg.- Stainless Slicer trolley with elevator wheels, design & drafting.
Graphic Art and illustrations for publishing literature.
Architecture - Designed and produced framing drawings for several buildings.
EDUCATION: Received a National Diploma in Design – NDD Industrial Product Design Degree from U. of
Central England.
Further engineering courses at SUNY: (Calculus, Programming, Strength of Materials).
Accomplishments: Won National Design Competition (Gas appliances),
US design patent. Royal Society of Arts – member.

• AutoCAD 2007 (30,000 hr.) including rendered solids, Mid-level SolidWorks

• Tooling experience: progressive dies, high-volume sand and die-castings, extrusions and a multitude of complex
molded plastics.
• Short run tooling methods such as powder metal, & spray metal epoxy molds & investment casting.
