Total angular momentum about the axis passing through center of mass of the system won\'t change between before and after the jump because if we consider child and disc as a system then, the torque developed due to impulsive force would be an internal torque with respect to the axis passing through center of mass hence we do not have any external torque acting on the system therefore angular momentum remains conserved, and we can\'t say linear momentum is conserved because rotating merry go round is a non inertial frame of reference and the child is acted upon by centrifugal force.
